What is DRIVE-IN SUPER MONSTER-RAMA?

Ever wish you could go into a time machine and go back to a time when life was much more simple, but far more fun? Well, here it is! DRIVE-IN SUPER MONSTER-RAMA is two nights of classic horror and science fiction 35mm prints presented at an authentic drive-in movie theater. There will be two big shows on two consecutive nights which will start at dusk and go on until really late into the night! This is the third year in a row that we are hosting such an event, so we encourage all East Coast drive-in movie fanatics to attend and make it another rousing success! What could be better than a weekend getaway topped off with two nights of classic monster movies on the big outdoor screen? We realize that everything is so expensive these days, but admission is only $10 a person each night! Plus, children 12 and under are free with parent or adult guardian. How can you beat that? The Riverside’s concession stand is loaded with reasonably priced goodies, including hot foods, hot and cold drinks, candy, popcorn and much more!

What is being shown and when?

On Friday, September 11, the features will be WITCHFINDER GENERAL, SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN, THE CRIMSON CULT and TERROR CREATURES FROM THE GRAVE.

On Saturday, September 12, our all-Hammer Horror night will feature THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, THE 7 BROTHERS MEET DRACULA, THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA and VAMPIRE CIRCUS.

Each night we will also present an array of vintage monster movies trailers in between the features which we know you will just love! This year, we might even have a few surprise short subjects!

Where is the theater?

DRIVE-IN SUPER MONSTER-RAMA will be held at the Riverside Drive-In Theatre in Vandergrift, PA. For the dates of September 11 and 12, the theater will devote its screen exclusively to these special nights of vintage entertainment. The actual driving location of the theater reads as: Riverside Drive In Theatre, Route 66 N, Vandergrift, PA 15690. If you put that information as your destination on Mapquest, you can easily access directions from your starting location. The phone number of the theater is 724-568-1250 and their website is www.riversidedrivein.com

Cool- I remember you talking about doing a Hammer show from the last thread. I'll probably go for the Sat. night show. The Vampire Lovers and Vampire Circus are great horror flicks. Satanic Rites is a terrible film. But perfect for a drive-in flick. Seven Bros. is a fun flick and it would be cool to see on the big screen. The Friday night films look good as well.

Its good to see that the last show was successful enough for you to do another one.

Satanic Rites is a terrible film.

It's basically the only Christopher Lee Dracula film I could find a 35mm print of except for HORROR, which is kind of overplayed at various revival houses. Still, like you say, it will work well at a drive-in.

Awesome! I missed last years event so I am making this a top priority for the end of summer. Thanks Mr. Reis, I am just a guy from Levittown Pa. who grew up during the Drive-In Era of the early 70's, so this is right up my alley. :)

Recommendations for future shows:

Race With The Devil
The Fearless Vampire Killers
The House That Dripped Blood
The Deathmaster (With Robert Count Yorga Quarry)
Asylum

Item: Have to check out mapquest to see exactly how far Vandergrift Pa. is from Levittown. I highly recommend to ALL eastcoast schmoes to go to this event and check out the Drive-In experience for themselves. There is Nothing like it!

Your suggestions are dead on in terms of what I've been trying to get for this event. I recently tried tracking down prints of HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD (from the former assistant of Max Rosenberg) and THE DEATHMASTER (from Fred Olen Ray, who released the DVD), but they didn't have them. I'd love to show FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS (we showed the trailer last year), but I'd have to go through Warner who don't make it easy, as they want to deal with the theater directly even though I'm the one that does the booking.

ASYLUM is an absolute for the future, I even have a lead on a good print and that film was almost on this year's program. Maybe next year. I can also get VAULT OF HORROR scheduled, as I have a lead on a print of the uncut version. And RACE WITH THE DEVIL... that film was just made for the drive-in. I'll look into it (I have to get the DVD on again this summer!).

The good news is that we will be showing trailers for HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD and THE DEATHMASTER on Friday.

And again, I drive 7 hours, and we have fans that drive as far as 10 hours to get here, so yes, please "ALL eastcoast schmoes go to this event and check out the Drive-In experience for themselves." Look at it as Disneyland for diehard drive-in movie buffs!
