Man they fuckin ruled!!! The lead singer(Jay Kay) is an effin pimp.

I am rocking out to Funk Odyssey right now and it is great. If I had to describe it , its kinda like Justin Timberlake on acid. I am glad I still own this cd!

Here's probably my favorite song on the album "Little L"

Yeah. They funky. It's sad that they were the only band like them of the 90s to enjoy a lot of success. There were a lot of other "pop-funk" acts around, but none just made it like these guys.

This is how all pop should be. Then I actually wouldn't mind hearing it when I was in a club/department store/girl's car, etc.

man i hated the twat in the hat,all the songs sounded the same and he thought he was some sort of megastar, one of the funniest things i ever seen was him going off his nut at a photographer and the cameraman got so pissed off he headbutted him splattering his nose all over his smug face was quality stuff.

Haha so I guess I shouldnt of brought them up huh?:D

He does look a little silly in those outfits and the big hats. Kinida like Fifel Goes West or something.

Can we agree though that "Virtually Insanity" is a badass video?

yeah true, i like deeper underground too, shit I should never have said that, I think its more jay kay that i dislike, he started off all acid jazz save the planet, then spent all his cash driving very environmentally unsound cars and coke and blondes.

whats jay kay got under his hat?

Man, I came in here after the thread only had 1 reply, and was really nervous, wondering if you guys were being ironic, fucking with our heads, or what... I had this fear in me that everyone would be fans, and I'd be forced to reopen my mind and listen to more of his songs.

Dodged a bullet!

Haha very true I cant lie.

I watch the BBC every now and then and Jay Kay was a featured guest on Top Gear. Kinda odd really.

Clarkson and Jay Kay shared airtime? Wow, I'm surprised they didn't both self-combust under the weight of their own pomposity.

I love what I've heard of them, my favorite song being Virtual Insanity. Surprised to see all the hate for the leader singer dude. I have never seen anything about him outside of that popular video where the floor was moving, don't even remember what song it was for. But yeah, that's why I try to avoid any exposure to any celebrity strictly outside of their art. Not everybody can be George Clooney or Johnny Depp.

Jason Kay has an awesome voice and gr8 dancer-very mature lyrics and cover work he and his band have done.

What the hell is small-man syndrome anyway. Please, us short men prefer the term "Napoleon Complex." I don't suffer from it but if you say I do I'll punch you in the nuts and get my large friends to back me up.

I LOVE them! I still listen to them on my iPod all the time, whenever I feel like something fun with a funky beat. Canned Heat remains one of the most dancable songs ever, and of course, they still have claim to one of the best music videos of all time, for Virtual Insanity, directed by Jonathan Glazer.

That was actually the vid for Virtual Insanity, which, as Monotreme said, was directed by the awesome Jonathan Glazer. My personal favorite Glazer vids are Rabbit in Your Headlights by UNKLE and Street Spirit (Fade Out) by Radiohead but Virtual Insanity is right under those for me.

I haven't heard much of their stuff though my bro bought Travelling Without Moving in one of those shitty 90s Columbia House deals and played Virtual Insanity nonstop. Gotta say though, that one song is infectious.

I'm with you Mono, my personal fave is 7 Days in Sunny June, the most played song on my iTunes but I have the video for Virtual Insanity on my iPod too, don't think I've ever watched it on there, but it's there all the same.

I was - well still am actually - really into the Acid Jazz stuff from the early 90's - Jamiroquai were part of all that and I loved them. The first album is really amazing. From then though, it all became a bit bedwetty - they never got anywhere near the quality of their early stuff. Actually I may dig the old album out :)
