I was really excited for both Martyrs and Drag Me to Hell and the wait for them has finally ended. Other great original horror movies I've immensely enjoyed were Let the Right One In, Inside, Rec, and Midnight Meat Train.
Films I still have to look forward to are Antichrist, Thirst, and Trick R Treat. Needless to say its been a great time for the genre right now. But beyond the films I just mentioned, what other original horror movies do we have left to look forward to? Once I see these three films, I'd really like something else to build up anticipation for.
im incredibly excited about Dead Snow at the moment

Good question. Other than Drag Me to Hell and Trick 'R Treat I have no faith in what is yet to come for the genre.

Herzog and Lynch are collaborating on a horror flick right now. I ain't a fan of Lynch, but I dig Herzog so I'm excited. Paul Verhoeven is workin' on a horror flick right now.

I think Lynch is only producing that one, right? That could be interesting.
I guess the only other films to look forward to are still in pre-production or in development. I remember a thread a while back saying the Inside guys were putting together a supernatural horror film.

There's also Adam Green's Frozen. Joss Whedon's Cabin in the Woods next year.

I was just going to say I can't wait for Joss Whedon's movie, Simen!
Great minds and all that....(or maybe warped)

Piranha 3-D sounds like it will be the most groundbreaking horror film to come out in the past century.

Yeah, Adam Green has Frozen coming out and then Hatchet 2. And the INSIDE guys are back with LIVID. :)

They probably all won't be good, but I bet these of which that have not been mentioned will be ones to watch out for.....
1. Pontypol: Just came out, but only played in New York. Has a Dvd realease date sometime in July, if memory serves.
Coming Out soon:
1. House of the Devil: A film by Ti West that has been getting good word lately.
2. Offspring: Hardcore Jack Ketchum Adaptation. Need I say more?
3 & 4. Surveillance and Hissss: 2 films by David Lynch's daughter Jennifer who returns to both horror and filmmaking after Boxing Helena in the 90's. Survellance also has a great review by The Arrow on this website.
5. I Sell the Dead: Like House of the Devil this one is produced by Larry Fessenden. A true indie-horror original. Good concept too.
6 & 7. Carriers and Pandorum: 2 Sci-Fi horror films that look like they can be fun. Pandorum may be produced by the always crappy Paul W.S. Anderson of Resident Evil films, but it has a couple of killer trailers.
8. Jennifer's Body: Juno screenwriter and producer's horror film. I've never seen Juno but this one may be great. A fun concept, too.
9. The Road: Ah, John Hillcoat's sure-to-be great adaption of No Country For Old Men's novelist Cormac McCarthy. An Apocalyptic/ Sci-Fi movie. Hillcoat directed probably the best western in twenty years with The Proposition.
10. The Wolfman: So shoot me. This remake has a great cast and will probably be a good updating, in my mind.
Next Year or the future, hopefully....
1. Cirque Du Freak: Circus themed horror films are few and far between.
2. The Dark Country: Thomas Janes directorial debut. A horror film. I am curious.
3. Dread: Midnight Meat Train sucked beyond worrds. I hear Book of Blood is even worse. This however has got some good word-of-mouth.
4. Fragile: New film by Rec's director, Jaume Balgero (SP?).
5. Giallo: All modern Dario Argento films turn out bad. Yet, this film has Adrian Brody who also produced it and had a great trailer I saw a few months ago. I hope noted huge Argento fan Brody can bring out the best in this master, much like his old wife did.
6. The Hole: Joe Dante's return to horror. Need I say more?
And finally,
World War Z: In preproduction but this seems like it could be a true zombie apocalypse epic. Marc Forster of the newish James Bond film is directing, so who knows could go either way.

I CALL SHENANIGANS!
Both those sound freaking amazing.
Horror, youre mentioning some great titles. I'm looking forward to Trick R treat, surveillance, frozen, cabin in the woods, wolfman, the road, aaaannnnnddd PONTYPOOL- this movie looks crazy!
Also im pretty sure Wes craven just finished up a picture and J. Carptenter is working on one now. Not too sure about Giallo though, or of the dead, ive pretty much written off both those guys.
edit: looked up that lynch/herzog project, yea hes just producing. Hes also producing jodoroskys new movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892411/ check out that cast.

WOW. Honestly, any film that has Herzog and Lynch collaborating has my attention regardless of the genre.

Groudbreaking? :p I see what you did there. Earthquake... groundbreaking! ;)
Clever bastard.
I'm really looking forward to a few remakes, actually (well, two...), and I usually dread/hate them. Piranha 3D and The Wolf Man actuallt don't sound/look half bad.
Antichrist will hopefully the greatest film the genre has seen in years (I have all my fingers and toes crossed on that one).
Hopefully Cabin in the Woods will be awesome.
Jennifer's Body might be... ok, if it's not too Cody-ish/Juno-ish. I honestly don't know what to expect about this one. :(
Thirst should be spectacular.
Pandorum looks like it should be fun as hell!
Oh, yeah, and there's that Trick 'r Treat film. Hopefully it gets released sometime, somewhere over the rainbow.

I heard Roth is going to make Thanksgiving. Love him or hate him, his shit is better than a remake. Plus if he goes back to his Cabin Fever days he can make a solid film. On that note there has been a sequel to Cabin Fever finished and sitting on a shelf for like 2 years now...where is that at?
I watched Dead Snow in Norwegian and it sucked. I think it will let everyone down. Then again, I am not a fan of the whole Nazi-Zombie sub-genre.
I'm looking forward to seeing Giallo and the Hole as well. Carpenter has some shit coming out that should be swell. Romero has another shitty living dead film coming out.
Rugero Deodato has Cannibals coming out, that will probably be decent.
Why the fuck does Social Distortion keep coming on my Slacker radio, I hate them? Why did I write that?

As you can see, considering the genre we all know and love which has been thriving the past few years big time is still goin' strong as exemplified by these many examples of enticing projects to look forward to over the next few years. :D

In my 30 odd years on this planet (fuck I'm old) future horro has never looked this good.
We've got Sam Raimi back, french horror is kicking ass, Joe Dante's back, Joss Whedon is jumping in.

I don't consider Raimi back. I think he just had an itch that needed scratched and he'll go back to his usual stuff.

He's one of those directors with a lot of versatility. I really hope he does another movie along the lines of A Simple Plan. If he does one more horror film after this that would be cool too but I'm not so sure I want an Evil Dead 4. Bruce Campbell is looking a little old now.

I don't want another Evil Dead either. I wish everyone would just leave that series alone already. Personally I'm not even a fan of Army of Darkness. I thought it was ok but I hated the slapstick tone it brought to the series and character of Ash. For me, Army of Darkness tainted Evil Dead, much like Spider-Man 3 did with Spider-Man.
We could say that Raimi is not good with third installments?

No one's looking forward to The Descent 2? Judging from the trailer, looks like it pulled an Aliens, bumped everything up a notch.
I've been waiting for Trick r Treat and the Cabin Fever Sequel for awhile now, as long as they're never released I'll always have something to look forward too. Piranha should be fun along with The Final Destination, 3D is the Shiiiiit!
I'm becoming less and less interested in the Elm Street remake everyday, hopefully that changes.

Trick r Treat is coming to DVD this October.
The Director of Cabin Fever 2 (Ti West) has no idea what Lionsgate is doing with the sequel. Release it already fuckers!
I'm looking forward to The Descent 2. Looks entertaining.

Somebody mentioned Dead Snow. It's fun as fuckin' hell, man. You guys will love it.
Also, gotta remember that Rick Baker did the make-up on Wolfman. If that don't tickle the ol' cods, you're just not having enough fun in Show Business.

Just so you guys/gals know the Martyrs director (Pascal Laugier) has left Hellraiser!
May be good for him, so he will take on more original material next. Certainly bad though for the Hellraiser remake that also lost the Inside directors a while back.
Makes one weary.

Good point, I guess the websites really did not clarify that.
Dread Centeral and Bloody Disgusting said that Clive Barker himself said Laugier was off of it?
Maybe it was just from the writing standpoint?

signs point to the wolfman remake being bad but im still looking forward to it.
and yea i think drag me to hell was just a fun project for raimi and hes going back to work with spiderman. i hear its gonna have morbeus and maybe the lizard so theres some good opportunities for raimi-horror. cant top the operation scene in spiderman 2.
