Winona Ryder swears there's a 'Heathers' sequel

Before there was "Mean Girls" there was "Heathers" and now Winona Ryder, the star of the 1988 cult classic, says that there's another chapter of the story to tell.

"Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God," she tells Us Weekly. "I've been wanting to do a sequel forever."

She also shares that co-star Christian Slater -- whose character blew himself up in the original -- has agreed to return as "a kind of Obi-Wan character."

"For some reason the writer, Dan Waters, and director Michale Lehman don't want to talk about it," Ryder says.

Maybe because Waters last collaboration with the actress, 2007's "Sex and Death 101" was a misogynistic disaster?

It seems like I heard about this years ago. I'm not sure how a sequel could work, or where they could even go. The first movie said something, and summed up everything. I dunno - usually I'm either okay or impartial with these things, but here I'm not so sure.

"Winona Ryder swears she's gonna get paid to star in a movie that shouldn't be made"

It's not going to stop, is it my friends?

Next up, a sequel to "Citizen Kane".

"...they cloned him."
"...he's back for revenge."
"And he's gone drive that sled across their throats..."

20 year class reunion perhaps?

I don't know. Maybe it could work.

Yeah I can see that working. I also could see them doing that with the Breakfast Club

What is happening to her career anyway? She's talented and beautiful. Why can't she get signed to make a serious movie?

I thought she was great as Spocks mother in Star Trek, I could hear people around me whispering "Is that Winona Ryder?" She could be doing many more good projects.

Twenty years to late in my opinion. I loved the first Heathers, a true dark comedy classic, that was totally anti-John Hughes and some of the film's qoutes have gone down into the lexicon of pop culture ("I love my dead gay son."!!!!) I think a sequel now, would only tarnish the original film's impact.

Was it just me or did she look extremely sexy even as an older woman in "Star Trek"?

I think that's what they might be going for. With that receding hairline of his, Christian Slater isn't fooling anyone.
