-then they all laugh with their stupid fucking friends/girlfriends and what not.

DOUCHE: "HURR DURR HURR DURR"
-cant really remember what he said here but he huffed and puffed about "What was my problem" and "now were both missing the movie because of you now"

This sort of happened to me during a The Last house on the Left showing. These people in the back were talking throughout the whole fucking movie, basically being like Mystery Science Theater 3000 only not funny. So, after a while, a couple next to us screams out "Would you mind shutting up?" This leads the one girl to say "Oh my gahd, calm down yo!". This leads me to do something I've never down before, talk back!
So i simply blurt out, "You guys been fucking yapping for half of the damn movie....KNOCK IT OFF!"
They shut up, I was happy, enjoyed the rest of an alright remake.
Tell someone to calm down after you been talking.....I didn't come to the movies for extra commentary from you and your unfunny friends, I came to see a damn movie.

Your rant was just a Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch reference away from giving me flashbacks to the early-90s.
This is better than the New Wave Douchbags of the 80s - fucking couldn't see half of Beverly Hills Cop because Flock of Seagulls was sitting in front of me. I didn't even know Judge Reinhold was in it until it hit video.

And the Movie Studios wonder why nobody goes to the theaters anymore and decide to wait for the DVD release instead. Its because we don't want to have to listen to idiot kids and retarded adults who talk out loud during a movie and light up the theater with their cell phone screens and also the adults who are too lazy to hire a baby sitter so they bring their noisy 4 year old to a rated r film.
If they want more people to go to the movies what they need to do is improve the theater going experience and here is how they must do it.
1. Have an usher come in to check up on every movie. If anyone talks out loud during the film, have that person kicked out.
2. There are some schools that have built antennas into the buildings that prevent the kids' cell phones from receiving any signals so that they can't use them during class. Get some of these for the goddamn movie theater!
3. Don't allow anyone into an R rated movie if they have a child with them under the age of 12.
4. Serve beer.
Those are the 4 most important things that come straight to mind for me but if anyone else wants to add to the list, be my guest.

There have been so many rants about going to the movies. And I agree completely with your rant. Far too many people (i use the term loosely) have no respect for other patrons and the movie itself. When I go to the flicks, I take no shit from anybody. They bug me just once, I tell them to STFU. I really do. You pay money to enjoy the film, not be annoyed endlessly by wankers. And there's alot of them around as you all know. No wonder more and more people download movies and/or setup their own home theatre. To get away from retards. Once upon a time their used to be ushers (is that what they call them?) who would check regularly to keep the peace. But I rarely even see them. And they are for the most part, worthless anyways. But I only go to the flicks about once per fortnight. We the movie fans shouldn't have to deal with this crap. I hate it. I blame cell/mobile phones for most of these problems. Once when we didn't have them, it was just the odd few people here and there that wouldn't know how to shut their trap during the movie.
Fuck, I really hate some people!

I hate that it ruins the theatre experience for a lot of people, makes them not want to go back. There is no substitute for the theatre. There need to be stricter punishments for offenders.

A better idea is to keep kids out of the theater, and eject people who use cell phones. I really doubt that doctors, social workers, or even people with a social life who know common courtesy are the people I want to detract from coming to the theaters.
If more people manned-up like ericdraven, I doubt the cell phone thing would even be a problem for the douchiest of bags.

When I was growing up, (back in ye olden days) there were these magical individuals known as USHERS that used to help out in this situation.
Unlike the dancing tool that resembles Ben Vereen, these gentlemen would patrol the theaters in my neighborhood movies and if someone was running their yap, the usher would escort them out.
Nowadays, ushers don't even exist anymore.
And what the hell is a 14 year old teenager going to do with 28 year old high school senior that won't shut the fuck up?
Nothing, that's what.
The ushers at my old theater were rather muscular individuals with a low tolerance for B.S. and if you mouthed off, you got "the bum's rush" out of the exit door.
I'm not suggesting these teens get into scraps.
I'm suggesting the movie theaters start hiring ex-Marines who will silence individuals like the one you mentiond, Bahs.
Hell, if it paid well enough, I'd do it.
I'm no ex-Marine, but I've got pent up anger and a low tolerance for jerkoffs yammering in a theater people paid $10-12 to see a movie in.

This is why I never go to see movies in Brooklyn- there's hipsters everywhere. One thing I've always found funny about hipsters- they all try to seem like they are all different; but they all look exactly the same(like one big fucking Gap commercial). Like one ragged band from Day Of The Dead. As unbathed and unkempt as they are pretentious and pseudo-intellectual.
This is also why I go to see movies during the day when there is almost nobody in the theater(save for the unemployed, who are usually quiet). It's as close as you can get to actually getting your money's worth.

What pisses me off is that for many years I've always tried to see movies first thing in the morning (9 - 10am), which is better for my schedule, but there's less people --- the thing is that now, money-wise, it's almost the same price as seeing an evening show. It's usually like a dollar difference, maybe a dollar-fifty. That's bullshit.
Okay, everyone - insert your favorite punchline to: How many hipsters does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Here's my favorite:

Minnesota - actually the theater we usually go to it's a $1.50 difference, but there is another one that's $2.50 difference. I guess it seems like less at the time, but I mean for a 10am show, you would think there would be a bigger break, but I guess I can look that I'm paying for no crowd... I remember AMC theaters and Regals would have "twilight" shows (5-6pm) where it was cheaper than even the matinee, since people are usually at dinner then.

I've only been in once, and I do remember that - we saw a matinee at that place in Times Square and it was $10 for like a 1pm show --- I just assumed it was higher priced at night. That kind of makes sense though, since it's so touristy, I guess, it's packed at all hours. We saw Adaptation and the theater was sold out. Small town theaters don't need to roll like that.

I agree with the first three, but I'm hesitant on that last one. I know there are theaters that serve alcohol and I believe even meals (usually in upscale areas), and I'm cool with that. I just wonder if it would not create a new set of problems relating to drunkeness.

Serving beer just isn't going to happen because they would have to restrict the theaters to 18 and up, as well as employ 18 and up. There are some chains that have theaters with a separate 18+ section, but it always costs more. Though, I will admit that I was surprised at how inexpensive the alcohol was. I mean, it was still overpriced, but no more than any bars or nightclubs -- I was expecting like 10 dollar beers, but if I remember correctly, bottled imports were $3.50 (this was like 5 years ago though, but that was still a decent price - considering the giant sodas cost about that.)

Interesting story that goes along with this rant. When Martin Lawrence's "RunTelDat" was released in the theaters, I went to go see it with a buddy of mine and his brother.
We had a young couple in front of us and they wouldn't stop talking and using their phones throughout the first few minutes of the movie. My buddy's older brother leans over and says something politely to the guy. This swagger-filled guy turns around and says "Who are you?" and proceeds to stand up, now blocking others from the film and looking like he wants to go at it. My buddy stands up quickly and knocks him out.
The crowd went wild as it was packed, but me and my buddies had to leave before the authority got there.
FUN TIMES. Wasted money. But not really, because I got to see my buddy knock a douche back into the bag.
