i know the blu-ray of road warrior has a commentary the dvd's don't have. Don't know if it will ever get a special edition though, that is unless another Mad Max comes out.

The whole trilogy needs the Blu-ray treatment (though the first one is controlled by MGM and the latter two are controlled by Warner). And hopefully they'll properly retitle the second one "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior."

There was an announcement last year that a SE was in the works for release towards the end of this year, haven't heard anything since then.

unless another Mad Max comes out.

I've heard that they're currently scouting locations for a film called "Mad Max 4: Fury Road". So maybe there's hope yet?

Ah really?! I succumbed to getting the br not too long ago...
While Mad Max 4 is definatly in the works (yet again), i honestly don't know how much 'new' material could be put on a new release of the films (atleast the first 2).

Yeah, "Mad Max 4" has pretty much been in development hell now for nearly a decade. Personally, I'd rather NOT see it get made. Often times in fourth installments is when a movie series starts to lose its luster (think "Lethal Weapon 4," "Live Free or Die Hard"). Plus, I'd question Mel's willingness to do another one of these at his current age.

I doubt we'll see Mad Max 4 either. George Miller is busy doing other things...like Happy Feet 2 :p

A friend of mine who owns a DVD store says "The Road Warrior" will be re-released onto R1 DVD this June 30th. It'll have a new transfer, be in Widescreen only, be a single sided disc, and will have the same box cover art as the HD edition. BUT, this re-release will NOT be a S.E.! :(

This "release" Martin is more of packaging re-release. Replacing the old snapper case with a keepcase. Amazon.com has it listed this way.

I seriously doubt it'll have a new transfer.

Also, Amazon.ca has it listed Martin:
The Road Warrior (http://www.amazon.ca/Road-Warrior-George-Miller/dp/B002AT8KB0/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1246596087&sr=1-12)

$15.49 CDN!?!? for that...wow.

You get buy the old snappercase on Amazon.com for $6.
