Robert Pattinson Hit In Car Accident
June 18th, 2009 4:34pm EDT Post a comment Read 15 comments Add to My News

Robert Pattinson was hit by a taxi cab in Manhattan. The 'Twilight' star is in New York City filming his upcoming movie 'Remember Me.'

Fans need not worry about their beloved Edward Cullen, he was barely grazed in the car crash.

But reports on what caused the accident are conflicting. Radar Online claims to have witnessed the event and says a group of crazed teenage fans may have been to blame.

"A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Rob was leaving the bookstore. It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer. Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Rob rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him."

After confirming Pattinson was OK, a bodyguard reportedly screamed "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"

However a spokeswoman for the film's production company Summit Entertainment downplayed the events saying, "The reports are exaggerated. It was not caused by his fans. Production continues."

Heres hoping next time it's a semi!

Not tying to be a dick, John, but the dude is just an actor we don't like. Being hit by a car for real is not really a suitable comeuppance for being a twat...that would be a kick in the face or something, not a car parking on your head.

Still, he gives me the venal spleen, no doubt.

I don't care much for Pattison myself, and while I don't wish death on him, I must ask this... WHY DO MY FELLOW FEMALES GO CRAZY FOR HIM?!

Now come on. This guy has a mom somewhere, and I dont think she'd like him DEAD.

If I take anything from this article its that teenage girls in this country have become fucking certifiable.

I wish the man no harm. I think the popularity of his character (and the series) is mind-boggling. But apparently he doesn't take it seriously and has even bashed it a little.

When I read it ... I was convinced that Stephenie was convinced that she was Bella, and ... it was like it was a book that wasn't supposed to be published, like reading her — her sort of sexual fantasy about some — especially when she says that it was based on a dream, and it's like, "Oh, then I had a dream about this really sexy guy" and she just writes this book about it, and there's some things about Edward that are just so specific that ... I was just convinced that this woman is mad, she's completely mad, and she's in love with her own fictional creation. And I sometimes ... feel uncomfortable reading this thing, and I think a lot of people feel the same way, that it's kind of voyeuristic ... It creates this sick pleasure in a lot of ways.

As far as I know that's an actual quote.

I'm not a fan but I'm glad he's okay. No one outside of murderers and possibly rapists deserve to die. And even then, I'm against the death panalty myself so I would say lock them up for the rest of their lives instead.

Nothing remotely funny about the thread's title.

Heh, I'm still on Chapter 6. I'm apprehensive to continue because there might be more mentions of his 'too perfect face'. I don't care. Why isn't anything happening in this book?

It's utterly sickening. :p

:p

I wonder if that nuttymadam woman was among the attackers?

Would that surprise you? :D It's as if Robert Pattison is SkyNet and any other desirable man is the Resistance.

I don't know why everyone hates him. I think he feels as weirded out as most people about this whole phenomenon.

I bet they'd probably go crazy for anyone who played his role in Twilight. It's the books, the movie, the whole thing, people are obsessed with it.

I don't find him very attractive, I don't think he's ugly either. I'm definately not crazy over him, he's not manly looking enough for me.

I'm glad he's okay, I don't like hearing bad news like that about anyone.

Personally I think he got hit by that taxi because the driver was distracted by his sparkeling skin:D.

Seriously though while I'm not fan of him or the Twilight series, I'm am glad that he wasn't seriously hurt.

Nein. 'Twilight'. He plays the supposedly sexy Edward Cullen.

I know he made fun of himself in the Twilight commentary, but I would be surprised to hear of him going so far. Some planned director of a later Twilight movie bashed the series on this radio show and had to recount his statements later because it would have been bad for business.

Does anybody involved take this saga seriously?

Tw Staff: Reading Twilight it came to me the story of Westley and Buttercup. Is Bella and Edward love, True Love like theirs?

Stephenie: Actually Bella and Edward love story is better than them. When I was in college I wrote a l paper from a feminist perspective (it’s an easy way to write) on the princess bride so I am little biased. The problem I have with Westley and Buttercup is Buttercup is an idiot and it doesn’t bother anyone, all that matters is that she’s beautiful, that is her only value. At the end she redeems herself a bit, but the female characters are very weak in that story. Westley is brave and smart and fights, Buttercup is just beautiful, it’s her only thing: her brain means nothing, her personality means nothing to him, they have the kind of love where they can’t leave without each other. It’s not a great example to me. I couldn’t find one who was a really good comparison to me, I mean, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy’s it’s pretty good, except you should think that if either one of them dies the other one will carry on bravely, and Romeo and Juliet were kind of idiots, they didn’t know each other very well. And Anna Of Green Gables and Gilbert Blythe (Anna dai capelli rossi), but they are much more like Jacob and Bella, they’re friend they get the nerves of each other a lot. I didn’t find out yet a Bella and Edward love story that really satisfied me that way.

That quote is win because she's describing her own story while criticizing others for the same things. :) But yeah, she takes it quite seriously.

I'm glad he's alright. I despise the whole Twilight crapfest as much as anyone, but he's just a young actor trying to make his way into the business. Can't blame him for taking a role.
