OK, so we're doing a project for marketing a film. We were given a script (which is already set) and now we're playing the role of the distributor. Here's a synopsis of the film and some ideas we had, so be a dear and check it out and feel free to give your opinion.

Plot
This film looks at a grown individual (mid 20's to early 30's) as he looks back on his childhood and the several events that took place with him and friends. The fairway boys, as they referred to themselves as, were a group of mischievous teens who play pranks on a local golf course. An angry golfer who doesn't take kindly to these youngsters hits a ball in their general direction and accidentally kills one of the kids. With a Stand by me or The Sandlot feel to it, mischievous revenge ensues.

Soundtrack/tie-ins
As the majority of the film would take place in the mid 90's, a band that was popular then and now would be necessary to market the film. 'Green Day' is an example of a band that was popular then and now that could arrange a soundtrack of popular songs in the mid 90's with some new songs revolving around the theme.

Questions for you
Would this be a film that you may be interested in seeing? why/why not?

With wanting to employ a band like 'Green Day' to coordinate the music of the film, what other bands come to mind that may be suitable for a film of this nature?

The film being comprised of teenage pranks, how much (or little) poignancy would you want to see in the film?

Any other comments/suggestions that you would like to see utilized in a film like this.

Is there a limit to how long the movie is? Also do you have a script?

You might want to put this on the filmmaking/screenwriting forum.

wow thanks for your guys help and i will transfer this to the [I]film-making[I] section

there is no production involved in this however (script is set also), this is simply a marketing project. basically, i need to push this (fake) commodity out the door and convince my professor how to do that with this crappy plot.

press kits, epk's, stats/input from market research (which is the point of this thread), and things of this nature are basically what i am to provide for this project

has potential. if the movie takes place in the early-mid 90's then the soundtrack could be epic.

story sounds like it could be funny or cheesy, depending on the pranks played

You could squeeze some Weezer in there.

Their song, "Buddyholly" was big back in those days.

"Sabotage" by Beasty Boys

"Seether" by Veruca Salt

"Zombie" by The Cranberries

"I Alone" by Live

"Jeremy" by Pearl Jam
