Yes, yes, yes. Here we go, this year's lineup (http://thevoodooexperience.com/2009/lineup.php).

Let me tell ya what I dig:

Widespread Panic/Eagles of Death Metal/Ween/The Black Keys/George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic/ and a few other gritty New Orleans bands.

I, personally, don't give two fucks about Kiss or Eminem. I'll see Jane's Addiction, though.

The fact that Justice, Wolfmother, and The Black Keys all have higher spots on the bill than Ween, The Pogues, and motherfucking Parliament-Funkadelic is a fucking travesty in itself.

Have you caught Parliament-Funkadelic in the past few years? ... DEFINITELY NOT what it used to be. Basically it's George Clinton, high on crack, trying to rap, and some huge, fat man dancing around in a goddamn diaper. It's rifuckingdiculous. And just, really, not what it used to be in the '70s.

Parliament-Funkadelic at its worst is still better than Justice and Wolfmother at their best. I'd take a high-as-fuck George Clinton over hipster bullshit any day of the week.

You speak the truth, sir.

I wanna go, if not just to visit New Orleans again. Magical place.

Ween and The Flaming Lips both put on a great show. The Flaming Lips have a new album out this year - my most anticipated of 2009 - so if anyone hears some new material, feedback would be welcome.

And if Ween perform 'You Fucked Up!', enjoy.

I doubt I'll go. I haven't been to New Orleans since Katrina, not even for the Jazz Fest. I know I'll have to eventually, but I still have mental pictures of all my favorite nooks that I'm not ready to overhaul yet.

For anyone who does go, know that the real meat of these festivals are the groups in the tiny tiny print.

Believe me, spend time listening to some of these masters and listening to Kiss will be like someone pissing in your ear.

(Though it is already, yuk yuk.)
