Plot:
9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood), who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive

The trailer was epic, and i think Acker was a good choice for this type of film, even if it's CGI

The trailer (trailers?) for this film was awesome. Really looking forward to this flick.

I've been waiting for a more adult oriented animated film and this looks like it will deliver. Can't wait.

I'm not familiar with Shane Acker. What else has he done?

To be honest I only know him as a special effects guy from LOTR the return of the king. So I'm thinking he has alot of experience with CGI, plus they gave him Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, so he has alot of help as well.

the original trailer had me making this one of my top must sees for this year, and the new trailer has kept that momentum going... whomever' decision it was to use that Epic Coheed and Cambria song for the trailers deserves a HUGE raise!

I recall reading somewhere that this is based on a short film Acker did a few years ago. Anyone know how I can find that?

The trailer did nothing for me. It looks fine visually, but the story is the kind that's been done over and over again. "One unlikely hero will have to save the world from ________."

Good visuals alone can't get me to overlook other problems. I thought Paprika was a boring movie with amazing animation.

Easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year. The voice cast is superb.

Same here. I think that was more due to my complete detachment to the characters, except for the detective/cop.

NINE looks outstanding to me however. I really hope they make it out to be as dark as it looks.

The original was included in the lineup of short films in The Animation Show 2007 that was the third such collection put together by Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt (who previously did the absolutely brilliant Rejected Cartoons). They played it on only one small screen (that I'm aware of) here in Chicago back in '07. There were several pretty good films, but 9 was far and away the best in my opinion. The first three installments are all available on DVD, and a fourth came out in 2008.

The trailer is amazing, and I'm a HUGE Crispin Glover fan, so I'm excited! One of my roomies is actually upset that my boyfriend and I want to see this because she believes this movie is a government conspiracy because of the content and its release being so close to 9/11. :rolleyes:

Im pretty pumped for this movie to come out, saw a trailer for it in front of HBP and it still amazes me. =-D

I just seen the trailer for this and I have to say it looks amazing.

Since this is produced by Tim Burton one of the things that has always bugged me is why hasn't Crispin Glover and Burton ever worked together?

You're in luck. Glover is starring in Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
