View Full Version : Is it Weird that I'm listening to Limp Bizkit all over again?

I used to be a hardcore dedicated fan of the Bizkit way back in the days of Grade 6. After awhile I grew old and was turned onto other music and suddenly went from liking all their songs to having nothing good to say about them. Constantly bashing them in comparison to other bands, and eventually got old enough where I just completely ignored their existence. Now I'm 21 and they're suddenly reunited and for some reason I've gone back to listening to them and can't stop.
Is there something wrong with me? Am I having an early crisis at the age of 21? Wishing myself back to the days of when I was dumb and 12 all over again?
I know these songs are no where near great, mostly in terms of Fred Durst's writing, but you have to admit that the musicianship of the band is pretty well done. And they're great performers too.

I always revisit bands I liked when I was younger, hell I don't hate Limp Bizkit like others, their cover of faith is the shit.

Can't speak for the Bizkit however can relate to revisting bands from when I was young.

it's your way of denying your entrance into the "real world" by trying to relive your youth. It's not weird at all. It's actually quite common.
But seriously, aside from any psychological reasons, I think everyone does it. I always go back to stuff I listened to when I was growing up. I've had The Slim Shady LP and And Then There Was X in my car for the last 2 months for no apparent reason.

Most people snap out of Limp Bizkit, so I guess it's kind of odd. Here's something that might make you feel better about it.

Nice! I'm glad there are others out there who agree with me.

Nah, it's fine. Happens to me from time to time. More with Korn than Limp Bizkit, but both get a play every once in a while.

My music listening life revolves around revisiting old stuff. Nothing wrong with it at all I reckon :)

I haven't listened to Limp Bizkit in years. Don't plan to anytime soon either. But that's cool that you're rediscovering an old favorite.

I used to be huge Limp Bizkit fan. After Wes Borland left the band, I started to lose interest. When he came back, my interest returned. After he left again and the band went into limbo, I was no longer a fan. I haven't listened to any of my LB albums in a long time. However, now that they have reunited and are working on a new album, I may just listen to their albums all over again.
Anyway, there's nothing wrong with you, man. I revisit older music and stuff I listened to years and years ago every once in awhile.
So keep listening to those LB albums and rock out. ;)

Listen to their 2003 album. You'll snap out of it.

There's nothing weird at all about it. LB's a good band. The constant hate for them is absurd.

Nah man.
Listen to what ever you want to.
If Limp Bizkit's version of the Mission Impossible song comes on the radio, I will definitely be listening to it. That song is ridiculously catchy.

IMO, their cover of Behind Blue Eyes is better than the original version.

When they came out with Nookie, everyone was playing it. They will deny it now, but they were playing it. It is like any popular artist, they become too big, and then get stale. I will admit to being a fan of theirs. I actually liked there Results May Vary album, I never got the hate. Build A Bridge was a great song from that album, and the cover for Behind Blue Eyes is very underrated. I guess it could be that it came out at a time when that type of music was fading.
The time they got big with Korn, the boy bands, rap, and all pop stuff was a great time for music. There was actually something for everyone. Creativity was high. Weird how Napster and file sharing came along and it seems like all creativity went out the window for quick hits.
As for going back to music from your teen years, I do this all the time anymore. I find myself listening to mainly 90's music. I guess it is like our parents listening to music they grew up on. You miss those days because it reminds you of how much easier those days were.

I agree with you. I never got the hate for the cover. Fred Durst really put everything into that song. But, if you enjoy the original, I can see you not liking it, especially if you are not a fan of his.

Ive been really digging some of their older tunes and Ive actually become real good friends with Freds mom Anita. I don't really understand the hate for them or their music.
Right now they are touring again with Wes in the band.
Another wonderful cover right here, Id even say its better.
