As an occasional smoker of fine cigars, I recently got around to finally purchasing an inexpensive humidor (has about a 30-cigar capacity). I've only smoked handmade imports and have a few go-to brands that I'll stick with, namely Arturo Fuente, Rocky Patel, CAO, Oliva (had a damn good one recently), La Gloria Cubana (good, cheap buzz), and most recently, Casa Magna (they produce one line, the Colorado Robusto, that took the Cigar Aficianado Cigar of the Year in 2008 despite being only a ~$6 smoke; best stogie I've ever had).
My selfish motivation for starting this thread is to simply broaden my samplings and take advantage of an unemployed summer to try some newer cigars. I figure someone's bound to take his cigars seriously.

I just lit up a CAO Monument the other day under the influence of Independence Day (not me):

Think I'll toke down a Rocky Patel Edge tomorrow in celebration of...um...Friday (?), haha:

With this weather, it's damn hard to resist...

For my birthday in two weeks my wife bought me a 20 year old single malt (one of 300 made) and a Partagas Series P No.2. It has a smoke time of 2 hours and comes from "the most venerable house in Cuba". When I chose it at the whisky dealers, the guy gave me this review:

I bought the The Two whisky (as opposed to The Five recommended in the review) and will smoke this bad boy on my birthday.
I cannot wait.

Smoking my cigar now. Very intimidating.
Will stick to half coronas for now.

I'm an amateur. The cigar was too much; had to quit half way through.
Back to basics for me.
Plus: it took an hour and a half to smoke!
How does Arnie manage it?

Yeah, I definitely didn't have the whole thing. Doubt I could finish an entire one in a single go...

Really need help here.
Last week I had a Montecristo Regata. Beautiful, easy draw and a dream to smoke.
But this fucker retails for £12 here.
I've looked around but can't find a place that does this (or equivalent) at a cheaper price.
Tonight I popped into a Whiskey store and bought an H. Upmann Junior because it was £6 plus and I thought it was a good replacement at half the cost.
Just smoked the fucking thing and it was a nightmare: tight, uneven and a waste of money.
I want to buy a box of something like the Montecristos, but I don't want to pay over £200 for 20 and the only place I can get decent cigars is a store in Hamburg that won't import to the UK for the deal on offer (£159 - for 20).
Does anybody know of a decent place where I can buy a bulk of cigars as good as the Montecristos for a reasonable amount? I'm sick of wasting over £10 for one cigar and £6 for a piece of crap that burns for an hour but yields no satisfaction.
I'm going to invest in a box - but what is worth the money, ain't tight, and is affordable?
Also - really begrudge paying more than a £100.
Help me find my "Go to cigar" for a decent price, please. My wife has said she will buy me a box for my birthday in a few months and I don't want to feel I wasted my chance on something as crap as the Junior.
(Half corona/coronas are my preferred cigar).

I had a cuban once. Idk the name of it. Not something I invest in, or have the time for, with the bugs and scraping out the cigar its a hassle. Its one of those cultured hobbies, you're either an aficionado or a damn fool guessing.

Ciglo Cigars are my favourites. I've tried others, but they just were never as satisfying as the Ciglo's. I need to eventually get me a nice humidor to put them in too. Try one Homyrrh and let me know what you think (if you have the chance to sometime)! ;)
