I searched for another thread on this, but I couldn't find one.

Does anyone know when we're gonna hear more about the Coen brother's next film: A Serious Man? It already has a rating (R for language, sexuality/nudity, and brief violence, the brief being the puzzling part), and it has a release date (10/02/09), but yet we haven't seen a trailer, tv spots, or even a poster.

Burn After Reading came out in late september if I remember correctly, and we got a trailer in early may. The movie is now three months away and it's as if it doesn't exist.

Anyone have any ideas as to when we are gonna get more news on this movie?

I agree! We've had trailers for Where the Wild Things Are, Taking Woodstock, Shutter Island and other October releases for months now, but no word about A Serious Man yet! I mean, we've already got a trailer for a Winter/Oscar season release (Nine) but not a peep from the latest from the Coens, a film I am obviously greatly anticipating as they are among my all-time favourite directors. Hopefully we'll get one soon, though. Have they even released any stills from this movie?

I was hoping that there would be a trailer with Public Enemies, but that didn't happen. If I were to guess, I'd say we'll get a trailer when TAKING WOODSTOCK comes out in August (as both are by Focus). Plus, I'm betting the Coens will debut it at the Venice Film Fest.

LOOKS FUCKING FANTASTIC! That's got to be the best trailer of the year so far.

That is the best trailer of the year so far.

The innovative trailer structure and dryness really reminds me of The Big Lebowski's trailer, and it's humor, as opposed to Burn After Reading's loud goofiness.

That's how you get my ass in a seat.

Thank god for the Coens and Ricky Gervais. Without them comedy would be dead (and yes I know about Apatow and I stand by my statement...he's got nothing on these guys)

That was an excellent trailer, expertly cut together. Can't wait for this film!

Looks like Barton Fink part Deus. I mean that as the biggest compliment ever.

The Coen Bros are FUCKING MACHINES!

2007: No Country For Old Men
2008: Burn After Reading
2009: A Serious Man

Plus, they got a bunch of projects ready to go after that...

These guys cannot be stopped.

(oh, and I too loved how the trailer was edited)

Hope I can snag a ticket for it at TIFF. I'm with the majority, that was a fantastic trailer.

Someone please explain to me what was supposed to be so great about that trailer? I found it 100% annoying and stupid.

This + Where The Wild Things Are's 1st Trailer.

This one was hilarious and it's got that signature dry Coen Bros. humor at the end. The audio mixing is what nailed it plus ending with "Need somebody to love" :D Hell, the face planting at the beginning almost had me spitting out my tea.

I didn't find it to be annoying or stupid but neither was I impressed with it either.

Looks very meh. Neither especially good or bad.

I loved the trailer, but I'm afraid it won't appeal to the masses. Yes, I know, it's a coen brothers movie. It's doubtful the average joe will buy a ticket to this movie, especially without any well known stars in leading roles, but where's the harm in trying?

The Coen Brothers make it look too easy. Like said previously, the structure of this trailer is amazing. Can't wait for this one!

I'm not gonna deny that the trailer structure wa great, but I gotta admit that I wasn't blown away from the trailer like the rest of you. (Where the Wild things Are has that beat)

Then again, it's the Coens, so I'm probably gonna see it regardless.:D

The trailer definitely the best of this year so far. I love almost everything the Coen Bros. have done including Ladykillers.

I like the Coen brothers but Burn After Reading was one of last year's biggest disappointments for me. It was pretty enjoyable up until the last 10 minutes. But the last 10 minutes are so bad that they made me angry.

Despite being underwhelmed by the trailer, I think this still has potential. I think this could be a movie that is rather hard to capture in a 2+ minute trailer and actually still end up being great. Who knows. At least that is what I'm really hoping.

While I wouldn't call it the best trailer of the year (Where the Wild Things Are and Shutter Island have that honor), it definitely got my attention. I particularly liked the opening. I don't ever recall a trailer that opened with a man being repeated thrown against a wall before.

Looks the organizers for the Toronto fest are pulling out all the stops this year.

I guess I have to be the bad guy. This trailer looks awful and flat. I love the Coens other works (I havent seen Burn yet though). This movie just seems like something they did to pass the time between better projects. Who knows though, a trailer is just a trailer.

I watched it a second time to see if maybe I'd like it more.....and I think it looked even worse the second time around.

Ditto...I don't know why everyone talks so much shit about Ladykillers..I didn't see it in the theaters because I heard a lot of bad talk about it so when I finally got around to seeing it I was like WTF are people griping about?...Even if you couldn't stand the first half the end payoff is totally worth while..Now if only I can find a copy of the DVD that isn't Full-Frame

Wow, what a fantasic trailer. A very original structure that doesn't give too much away but sets a familiar Coens tone. I don't know how you can not like this trailer, but it grabbed my attention and I thought it was hilarious!

The Ladykillers remake was horrible. Watch the original. Classic.

The Ladykillers (Widescreen Edition) (http://www.amazon.com/Ladykillers-Widescreen-Tom-Hanks/dp/B00029LNYQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1249427832&sr=1-1)

Tad over-priced, but wait long enough, I'm sure the price will drop or the discount will be deeper.

I'm still trying to figure out what could possibly be hilarious in that trailer. Hearing someone get beat against a wall annoyed me the entire time.

"He didn't look busy!" Delivered perfectly; we are shown for the first minute of the trailer everything going wrong in this guys life and he just can't seem to catch a break. To me, that was hilarious.

It does have the best trailer of the year so far. I'm confident that this will be another top-notch film from the Coens. Three in a row.

Okay, we get it. You didn't like the trailer.

Well I loved it, thought it was pure genius. The Coens are gods.

I enjoyed it. Didn't love it in terms of the content, but the idea of repeating sounds is very cool. I love the Coens' sense of humor. It's hard to capture in a trailer but usually is pulled off great in their films.

I also can't help but think of, "Dental plan! Lisa needs braces... Dental plan! Lisa needs braces... Dental plan!"
