Has there been an official word on whether it will be wide or limited?

Guess that depends if The Weinstein Company is still in business later this year. Guess we'll see after the box-office results for Inglourious Basterds come in... ;)

I don't imagine The Weinstein Company would take the risk of putting it in a limited release. I imagine they will promote the hell of it, put it in a wide release, and hope for the best.

According to BOM, it's a wide release (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view=bydate&release=theatrical&date=2009-10-02&showweeks=5&p=.htm).

Anyway, you shouldn't make a new thread just because your question didn't get answered in the older one. Bump up the old one instead.

I would hope that since the last Cormac McCarthy adaptation won Best Picture, and the fact that The Road has been considered one of the most important books of the last 15 years, that will motivate them to give it a large release.

It's going wide. You can tell from the way they marketed the trailer.

If you saw that I asked the question in the original thread, why didn't you answer it then? If you did, you wouldn't have had to see this thread.

I only saw it after you started this thread. Was wondering where the old "The Road" thread went.

acounting for the way Hollywood has been working the past couple of years, the better the film is the smaller the release is, if it absolutely sucks expect in in 3,000 + screens.
