I didn't see one of these and thought we could use a place to shower love on our furry friends. :) Got a dog, cat, iguana, two toed sloth, etc? Gush about them in this thread! I know a lot of people consider their pets members of the family, and for me, they are my babies and are able to cheer me up instantly. Until they get into something and tear it all to hell, but that's another story.
I have a miniature pinscher named Betsey Johnson (don't ask), and two guinea pigs named Einstein and Freud.

I haven't got any pets. When I do get one it will be a turtle or a rabbit...not one of those backtalking rabbits, though.

We have a simple-minded kitty cat called Herman...

He is just over 2 years old and loves to bring mice hope and get into all manner of scraps with a big fat catbus called Spaghetti. His best friend is an old black moggy called Pablo who sneaks in through the catflap and pilfers his cat crunchies.
We have been looking at turtles, bearded dragons and gecko's lately and plan on getting one for our Son Noah when he is old enough to appreciate it.

My pets are definitely members of the family and I consider them my children. I have two cats, two rats, five adult Oriental firebelly toads, four juvenile Oriental firebelly toads (though I'm not keeping the juveniles. They'll go to a new home once they're big enough) and one betta fish.
My cat Dunlop:

My rats Goobers (mostly white with gray head) and Dots (gray with white spot on head):

My bitches. These are both dogs that were abused and neglected till I got my hands on them. Now it's the life of luxury.
The black brindle one is a bullmastiff pit mix named Allie, and little one is a Pitbull named Pippers. I don't ever want another bully bread dog, but as long as assholes are attracted to them and treat them like shit, I'll probably always adopt them. I'm cursed.

Preston, I had a friend who rescued two abused pitbulls, Kitty and Taj. Kitty was missing her top row of teeth because they had gotten kicked out by her POS owner, and Taj was just really scared of everything. I hate how pitbulls have gotten a bad rap due to irresponsible owners who just want them to emulate the 'thug life' or something along the lines of that, then proceed to neglect their dogs or even ENCOURAGE them to be mean and aggressive. It's sick.

Thanks. I haven't gone through all the breeders there, but the Europeans ones aren't selling F1s, they're all F3s - F5s. I'm really looking for an F1.
In Britain we can have hybrid cats, and a few other exotic cats, without a license. I'd love to have an Ocelot or a Clouded Leopard, but to get a license i'd need a pretty big enclosure for them.

It pains me to see how pitbulls get treated. If you go to the pound out here I'd say one third of the dogs are bully breed. No one wants them once they've made them aggressive. My little Pit Pippers is so fucked up now, most of my friends don't like her because she'll growl if you even look at her too long. Dogs been majorly traumatized.

Oh, I didn't know you were in the UK. I was going to suggest hybrid cat network too but I think they also just list US breeders. Try Strawbell Pedigree Cats (http://www.strawbellcats.co.uk), they're in London. They have hybrids but I don't know if they have F1 Savannahs.
All my furballs are dumpster kitties (read: abandoned domestic short hairs), but I do drool over the hybrids. I can't bring myself to buy a pedigree when there are cats on death row -- not that I'm in a position to take on another pet at present anyway. :D

They seem to be from an F5 sire, via breeders named A1Savannah, so the kittens would be F6s. Which would make them very much like a domestic cat, but with a cool pattern on their fur.
It might be easier to find a Serval. These F1 hybrids seem to be very rare. But with a Serval i'd need a license, so I might as well get an Ocelot ;P. But licenses would be hard to get.

As far as declawing, I've done it once and will never do it again. I would only recommend having a cat declawed if there are young children in the house in danger of being scratched. From what I've been told, declawing a cat is the equivalent of chopping the tips of the fingers off a human being. They use those claws a lot.
Some families prefer to just declaw the front paws, so they won't scratch people as much and still can get some traction when they're running. There can be some complications, for example sometimes kitty litter can get lodged up in their paws where their claws should be, and that's supposed to be incredibly painful for the cat.
My current cat still has his claws and I'm glad he does. Yeah I get scratched from time to time, but only if I'm drunk and provoking the cat. As long as you train the cat properly, it won't scratch people or tear up your furniture. The key is being consistent with discipline. Every time it doesn't something wrong you have to make sure it knows. I prefer either squirting it with a water gun(they hate water) or making a loud noise such as snapping my fingers or clapping my hounds while shouting NO. As long as you are consistent with a method of discipline, they will catch on very quickly. And you can have a non-butchered cat without the fear of ruined furniture or losing blood. :)
I hope that helps!

second ?. Should I get it declawed. Some people say yes & some say no.
I've always had my cats declawed (front claws only), and it's no big deal. I've never noticed a difference, the cats still play hard and do all the same shit they've always done. The only difference is no more shredded furniture.
Also, I've never had any trouble with litter getting stuck between their toes. Never heard of that before.
Though my cats have always been 100% indoor cats. If you let your cat go outside alone, then I wouldn't recommend declawing. Claws are their only line of defense.

I've had three declawed cats in my lifetime, and have never had trouble with them biting. Like I said, after they were declawed nothing changed in their personality. At all. They are the same spunky & lovable old cats they've always been.
My vet is the one who talked me into declawing, he told me most of the stuff that you see on the internet about declawing isn't true. And he was right.

Dog wagging its tail I would think is a good thing, probably just wants to play. Kitty slapping his tail around at the dog, normally not so good.

Great thread. This is my dog Alfie, I adopted him also. His previous owners rejected him alot so they put him up themselves. I adopted him when he was 9 months old, I've had him a year now and I love the little fella to bits. :)

I want this dog.
Don't have any pets myself - we nearly got a beagle many years ago but then my bro had a minor incident with the car and my mom used it as an excuse not to get the dog (she claimed we weren't responsible enough). Living back at home currently but once I move out (hopefully in the next year), I will probably look into getting a dog.
May I ask, what breed is your dog?
