Land of the Dead was ok at best and Diary was a complete waste of time. I will not even consider renting this one.

*no idea how my post ended up being first when it should have been last?*

He seems to have lost his edge a bit these days.

I have lost all faith in Romero. Diary of the Dead is one of the worst films of the decade.

Diary was awesome but I've still got my reservations about this one. The trailer I saw a while back didn't interest me. But I'll still probably end up watching it.

I can now predict what Cronos is going to say:

"Can't wait for this, Romero can do now wrong."

Stupid sight screwing up.

Romero has been passed by. Much like Tim Burton appears to have been.

Diary of the Dead is one of those movies that I will never understand the hate for.

Land of the Dead was epic awesome, Diary of the Dead was alright but nothing spectacular (the girl that plays Ghost in Ginger Snaps: Unleashed should have been one of the main-characters though, she was such wasted talent in Diary), but from what I recall the teaser for this was pretty crappy. And I haven't watched it since it was first released to the interwebz, but doesn't it look like a Sci-Fi Original Flm? I'll probably end up watching this for Romero's name.

Uh, its a piece of crap and a very, very bad ripoff of better films like [REC]. Romero just doesnt understand the technology and the reasons those films used them. Shooting a first person "Diary" horror film and then adding music DEFEATS the purpose.

I had a really fun time when I went to the screening for that movie so I'm probably never going to see it a second time because I'm afraid I'll see all the same flaws in it that everyone else saw if I do choose to see it again.

It was a great crowd movie though.

I'm the same way, Brendan. I've seen it maybe twice in its entirety, but I'm scared to watch it again in case I find out that it does suck. And I just haven't been in much of a re-watch mood lately.

Alas, I have to agree with others that it sucked big time. I'm hoping GAR gets back in the zone with Survival but so far I'm not very hopeful, still I'll try to just wait and see.

I'm getting a strong Night 90 vibe here , from the lighting to the makeup effects , it looks terrific .

One thing that i appreciate about Romero , he hasn't devolved into the quick cut editing style of the younger generation .

That's what was " striking " about his last two films , he still takes his time with his compositions and let's the narrative flow naturally , that style works wonders when attempting to create a sense of dread and menace . Not that frenetic camerawork can't work , but it's not his style , so i'm glad he hasn't felt the need to adopt it .

Land was a film i loved after i saw it for the first time , it was the first GR flick i saw on the big screen since Dawn ( not counting Night 90 because he only produced that one ) and it exceeded all expectations . Then i sort of listened to the naysayers about how it was subpar in light of the new trend of fast zoms and mutants .

It took a while to learn to love it again and to appreciate how effective it was as a horror flm . Now , it's one of my favorite movies in that genre .

I very much enjoyed Diary also , even if the pace was deliberate to a fault , it gets under your skin and GR effectively creates that sense of dread that he has perfected . If anything , it's still the best first person zom flick to date ,with Zombie Diaries close behind .

This next chapter appears to be the genuine return of the master . He had his dalliance with a studio backed product with Land and his foray into a genuine indie with Diary , now it looks like he will put those two experiences together to make the film he really wants to make :)

Hope it gets a theater release , i have to see this on the bigscreen . Looks like the GR everyone has been waiting for , although i still don't think he has faltered at all in the zombie genre .

Getting all giddy after seeing that pic of the man entering the house and all those undead hands reaching for him .
