Here's a look at the Australian Box Office Top 20 for the weekend 25th - 28th July 2002.

(1) (Debut) THE SWEETEST THING
(2) (3) DIRTY DEEDS
(3) (4) BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM
(4) (2) ALI G INDAHOUSE
(5) (1) MEN IN BLACK II
(6) (Preview Screenings) ABOUT A BOY
(7) (6) BLADE II
(8) (8) UNFAITHFUL
(9) (Debut) ROAD KILL
(10) (9) BAD COMPANY
(11) (13) LAST ORDERS
(12) (10) BIG FAT LIAR
(13) (5) SCOOBY DOO
(14) (11) MINORITY REPORT
(15) (7) SNOW DOGS
(16) (15) THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
(17) (12) SPIDERMAN
(18) (16) SPACE STATION 3D
(19) (14) SPIRIT: STALLION OF CIMARRON
(20) (18) I AM SAM

I was hoping that THE SWEETEST THING was going to go well and knew it would make top 5, but number 1. WOO HOO. I was hoping ROAD KILL (Better known as JOYRIDE) would do better, at least it's top 10, considering it has been getting really good reviews down here. Scooby and Snow Dogs dropped incredibly. MIB II's drop may indicate it's quick decline out of the charts. I'm glad to see DIRTY DEEDS moving up, it's a really good Aussie film. In the same lines of SNATCH or LOCK, STOCK...

THIS WEEK: The comedy OUT COLD starring A.J. Cook, ABOUT A BOY (Currently on preview screenings) and Nicolas Cage's WINDTALKERS all open, so next week I'll report back to see how they did.

i am happy to see the sweetest thing did so well at #1,i never did get around seeing it but it looked pretty good, pretty poor opening for roadkill/joyride,i thought it would do better then #9 ....i hope Out Cold does better then it did here in the USA.

I was hoping Road Kill would do better too. I am so happy that The Sweetest Thing is number 1, I loved that movie. What's Out Cold like?

Mmmm. It seems that Joy Ride is destineid to underperform in theatres. A #9 debut is so bad i guess.
Good for The Sweetest Thing it could start so strong. Still to see if it'll have legs.

About A Boy did strongly, I can presume. Knowing that it's a preview screening makes me believe it's going to be a hit out there do as it did in both UK and US.

I'm praying I AM SAM would be disappearing by next time. Damn! I hate it! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
