Does anyone else think this feels like Jeremy Pivens' character from PCU all grown up and selling cars?

Looks funny, but sometimes Pivens can be exhausting.

Jeremy Piven looks like he's playing a version of Ari Gold, except this "new" character is a car salesman. Still, The Goods looks pretty funny, and I like the cast. So I'm there.

i like jeremy piven's style. i know he turns some people off but you either like the guy or you hate him. definitely checking this movie out. the pearl harbor speech was funny enough with the hangover guy gettin jumped

Wasn't Piven's character in Grosse Pointe Blank a car salesman also? My memory fails me, but I thought he was something along those lines.

I don't think this looks funny at all. Jeremy Piven can't carry a film, he just starts to become irritating after a while.

It looks pretty funny. I always get a kick out of the scene in the commercials where they talk about Pearl Harbor and then start beating on the oriental guy. :D

The first half of the film was very funny as Piven and his crew spit out one liners and quirky life stories,James Brolin was suprisingly funny in the film too.
But the jokes become less and less as we enter the last half hour, though a cameo by Will Ferrell is very funny.Wait for the DVD or Cable.

saw this flick tonight, it was a double feature day for my friends and i, so we caught District 9 first (fucking amazing flick) and then this flick.

it was very ok. The cast is the sole saving force for this flick! If this movie didnt have the extremely talented cast it sports, this flick would have gone direct to DVD or Cable.

no real hard core laugh moments.. but there were certainly some good lines and scenarios in this flick, enough to where i would def recommend it for a DVD rental... but no need to spend the $10 on this in theaters!

But i will say this: Katherine Hahn (i believe that is her name) the lady in the flick who was trying to fuck Rob Riggle's character who acts like a 10 year old boy... she was also the chick from Step Brothers who was married to Ferrell's brother but was fucking John C. Reilly...

but back to the point, in this flick she looked fucking SEXY, just incredibly hot in this flick, dont get me wrong, she was hot in Step Brothers and Revolutionary Road.. but in this flick, maybe it was her dif hair color, but god damn she looked good!

Only $5 million on its opening weekend? Ouch.

Maybe people were turned off by seeing the exact same ad ever five seconds for three weeks straight.

Still looks funny. I'll catch it on DVD sometime.

It was only released in about 1500 theatres. Not very good, but I suspect that it at least contributed to the shortfall.

This film will find its true audience on DVD, saying that it was still pretty fucking funny, with Will Ferrell's cameo being extremely hilarious. I would recommend it, but I doubt that this film will last very long in the theaters.

Ya when i saw it opening night in LA the theatre was actually packed. Didnt see it comin. But overall i really enjoyed the movie, was dead funny the first half then the last half was the "tying the loose ends" part where it went by really fast. Jeremy Piven can definitely lead a movie. he was hilarious as fuck. loved every quote.

It will find its audience on dvd as pivens PCU did on VHS. Another cult classic comedy that did bad in theatres.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard - 4/10

In the grand scheme of things it's really just a pointless movie. Nothing really happens, nothing really matters... I'm really shocked it got a theatrical release. A shit load of talent goes to waste here and it's not a very good film at all. Will Ferrell's cameo is hilarious, Ken Jeong is funny as usual and Craig Robinson has a few funny moments. Overall though, a really pointless comedy and it's probably best you don't see it.

The one thing this movie proved is that Ari Gold can't carry a movie. It had it's moments of sheer chaotic hilarity but that was really the only thing that had me laughing. And if that's the only way to sell a movie, then the Goods were not sold to me.

Overall kind of meh.

20-30 minutes I thought I was watching a Friedberg and Seltzer spoof flick. The first half hour is THAT bad! Fortunately, once they start selling cars the movie improves. But despite some amusing moments here and there, the movie never rises above mediocrity. It's a waste of a lot of good actors. Piven, Keochner, Rhames and Helms all deserve better than this. Forgettable and dumb.
