As the king of DVD by a guy from England or Scotland (I believe) who calls himself "Mizpol".

If you don't believe me go here www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mizpol&search_type=&aq=O&oq=Mizp. Watch and watch and watch and you too will be convinced.

P.S.
He also has a BD collection AND a HDDVD collection on top of all the DVDs he owns!! Some of his DVDs are very, VERY rare!!

This just in: Man who refers to himself on YouTube as "Mizpol" was recently found dead inside his apartment. The autopsy report shows that not only was "Mizpol" indeed a virgin, but that his retnas were completely burned out by high intakes of celluloid. ;)

Unless he's got, what was it, 15 copies of Ghost Rider I don't see it happening :D

Awesome, he's got The Nostril Picker, I think he's the first person I've come across that also has that :D

Do people that build up giant collections like this plan on eventually selling them? Or are they just crazy people who spend money on movies that will stay sealed on their shelves?

Because, (I didnt watch the whole video) it looked like half of his DVD's were unopened and almost all of his Blu-ray's and HD DVD's. I can understand not opening the collectible special edition shit, but it looks like this guy just buys any movie just to make his collection bigger.

And I noticed the same with that Xage guy, he bought like every version of Watchmen, even the single disc DVD which I dont get because why would you buy that if you have the Blu-ray? Its not like the single disc version of Watchmen will ever go up in value.

Actually, the guy does seem a little crazy to me, but reading the comments, he estimates his total at about 2000. Which surprises me, because I have nearly twice that amount. But I don't have any sealed DVDs, I don't buy multiple copies of DVDs, and I don't really try to get the most expensive ultra edition of any movie. If there's a two disc special edition vs. a single disc barebones, I'll get the 2-disc, but I won't get the 4-Disc ultra edition that comes in some sort of head-shape box or whatever. I think the biggest single movie set I own is that Forbidden Planet tin set that he has as well.

Also....I don't really have any desire to get autographs on any of my DVDs either.

It just depends on the collector, some are happy with just 1 of each but others have to get all/some of the variations. It's no different to a collector of Star Wars figures getting both unboxed figures and having 3 sealed boxed figures just because they have a difference in the text on the back. They have no intention of playing with them (or likely even selling them unless they get bored of collecting), it just makes their collection that bit more "complete".

Just realized this is the guy with the sweet looking Japanese Alien/Predator box set, watched the youtube video he did on that a while back, couldn't even find anywhere online that had it. Always thought the character head sets looked pretty awesome.

ya... i have a DVD collection of around 4000... but none are sealed... and i only have doubles of a select few flicks.

Dont get me wrong.. i have a ton of DVD's that i bought, opened... and then have yet to watch!

It's a habit, a bad habit! my bank account would be a lot nicer had i only bought dvd's i NEEDED!

but i still never understood the need that XAGE has to buy every version of a movie that comes out, even if it is a simple as a dif slip cover, where the disc is exactly the same! But that is an ultimate collector for which i will never be! More power to his collection for that reason! Id love to see how he has them all arranged

P.S.
He has multiple, MULTIPLE dvds that are numbered limited editions! Some of which are autographed too! I remember seeing one that was #6 out of 10!!

I don't see what the big deal is, Xage or Mizpol. If collectors have the financial stability to have a monster DVD/Blu-ray collection, let them, whatever. It's all about the finances with these types of collectors. Some people do have the finances to support a monster DVD/Blu-ray collection but choose not to, others of course don't.

Let them engulf every single DVD/Blu-ray in existence if they can afford to do it. :)

No one has said they shouldn't be allowed to have a "monster DVD/Blu-ray collection".

Your not impressed by their collections??
