Dead Man's Bones is made up of Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields (and I guess a big children's choir too). Their album is coming out in the fall and the band lists their influences as "disney haunted mansion, doo wop and 60s girl groups."

There's a video of one of their songs performed live here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGakxDyjwzc) with the choir and pitchfork put up an mp3 of "My Body's A Zombie For You" Here (http://downloads.pitchforkmedia.com/Dead%20Mans%20Bones%20-%20My%20Bodys%20A%20Zombie%20For%20You.mp3).

So far it sounds good, I'm liking both tracks and the choir actually works well with them. Didn't expect Gosling to sound like an old crooner though.

Not my type of music but yeah it wasn't bad, a little spooky but still cool... what really blew me away though was the video of the young Ryan Gosling performing with baby Timberlake and others on some disney show... this is a must see

I like how it reminded me of a song that could have been on Neon Bible.

I avoided this for a while, but now im hooked.

Um...I'm in love.

The music is creepy (which I love), but the children's choir brings in an optimistic light. It brings back memories on how the spirit of Halloween used to be. I'm sooo pumped for it now! :D

Yes, this has been quite awesome. I'll be picking this up when it's released. I'm pretty impressed, though admittedly am still unfamiliar with Gosling's acting.

Wow, this album blew me away.

I'll admit that I scoffed when I heard about this as it just sounded like a fun project for Gosling and actors that also perform in bands usually suck (Bacon Brothers, Dogstar, Russell Crowe's band.) This completely took me by surprise though. Definately in my top five of 2009.

Dead Man's Bones manage to be beautiful, haunting, fun, eerie, and catchy at the same time. The children's chorus is a great touch and they add so much to the music. Gosling has a great voice that reminds me a bit of Nick Cave. His voice is haunting and powerful and combines with Zack Shields catchy and more accessible Arcade Fire like vocals perfectly. The clapping that appears in several songs really ups the mood and adds to the anticipation of the beats. The sound switches between sounding like late 50's/early 60's doo wop to late 70's/early 80's gothic rock.

Favorite songs include "Buried In Water", "Pa Pa Power", "In The Room Where You Sleep", "My Body's a Zombie for You", and my favorite of the album "Lose Your Soul". That's the song that made me think that this album is freaking awesome.

Between this and Charlotte Gainsbourg's great album, 2009 was a great year for indie actors and actresses making albums.
