Two words: Guilty and Pleasure!

Looking forward to it even if the plot looks EXTREMELY similar to the plot of Death Race.

I would rather be fingerbanged by the right hand of Hellboy than pay money to watch anything the two dipsticks behind Crank and it's sequel have to inflict upon us.

Butler is really starting to slum since he made 300.

I guess he jumped at the chance to get paid millions and have a chance to show off his chest and grunt once again. Everything i would do if i looked like him.

Looks like a cross between Avalon and Running Man without any brains or charm.

I would be lying if i said it looks terrible though.

I think this looks pretty cool. Yeah, it does look exactly like the same story from Death Race, only as a shooter, not a racing game. I bet the twist is exactly the same as well (they won't let him win, I'm sure).

I'm interested to see how these guys direct a "normal" movie after the zaniness of the Crank movies.

This looks absolutely abysmal, and has one of the most idiotic premises I've heard of in a long while. Pass.

Looks pretty amazing from the trailer. Sure, it wont win any Oscars, but sometimes you just need that summer action fix, this is definitely a guys film. Looks like non stop action. Cant wait to see it, and Dexters over the top southern accent is awesome, that makes me want to see it even more, just for that part in the trailer where he says "Your mine boy!"

Haha. I don't really watch TV anymore so I'm not exposed to what I'm sure are tons of ads for it.

Reasons why I may see it:

-Rated R
-frenetic sequences of strong brutal violence throughout, sexual content, nudity and language
-Amber Valletta

Reasons why I may not see it:
-Kyra Sedgewick (what a dog)
-Ludacris (need I say more?)
-The title (Couldn't the powers to be come up with a better title?)

I will give this movie props for going foward with an R rating (hard R actually). They could of easily gone with a watered down PG 13 type of cut just to cash in to get more of a profit.

Still, this film does look pretty dumb. But man, I am sorta wanting to see Dexter ham it up to the extreme though. "You're mine boy!" haha awesome.

I got to think it over if I want to see this in theaters or not.

I did a lot of you a favor and saw this earlier tonight. You can send your condolences at a later date.

I usually don't have too much trouble with shaky cam during action scenes, but this film is damn near incomprehensible. I'm beginning to think that Neveldine/Taylor are filming scripts they must have written when they were 14, without making any changes.

Gerard Butler was fine in the role, but he's the only one who seemed to be taking things seriously, which is why he seemed out of place. Michael C. Hall was WAY over the top, but it works in a film like this. It was always entertaining whenever he was on screen, wait until you see the "Under My Skin" dance sequence...seriously...it's random and bizarre and one of the best scenes in the movie.

Gamer is the 2nd worst movie I've seen in theaters this year
(Year One being numero uno) 2/5

If so, it's not true to the original at all. If you feel a tremor, that's probably Fincher is rolling in his grave. Oh wait... Fincher's still alive, my bad.

Oh yes...there is. As I said in my previous post though, it ends up being the best scene in the film simply because of how random it is. Singing, finger snaps AND fighting?! It's this generations West Side Story! :p

It's not that bad of a movie. It's nothing special, but the action sequences are very cool, Butler does well, and Michael C. Hall does steal the show in the scenes he's in . . . particularly the song-and-dance bit. The story isn't that well developed, but the characters and the action help keep the movie flowing and interesting. And it's difficult to go wrong with a Keith David cameo also. It's not the most original movie in the world, but still not a bad time at the movies.

This movie reminded me of last year's Doomsday. Because like Doomsday it's a mishmash of several other, better movies. I give it a slightly higher rating than Doomsday because it's SLIGHTLY more satisfying. But in the end the while the movie isn't terrible, it's mildly diverting, it's nothing remotely special either. It's all just very . . meh. A completely average and unexceptional movie. A lot of good actors are wasted in roles that either are thankless or don't add to anything. And Michael C. Hall is terrible in this movie. His character isn't remotely interesting or menacing. He's just flat out obnoxious.

While watching Gamer,i wondered why the actors signed up for this film.
Did they need a quick paycheck to purchase some multi million dollar property?
Did they need to make some quick cash to recover being ripped off by an investment banker like Bernie Madeoff?
There are a few good action sequences, but the visuals are annoying and pointless.
Michael C. Hall's character had the potential to become a love to hate villain in the flick, but his total screen time was about 10 to 15 minutes,i did laugh during his song and dance number though.Ludacris as the leader of the "human" resistance...BORING
Everything in the movie was basic and cliched. You're better off buying or renting a video game than shelling out the bucks for Gamer.

Wow these are some of the most depressing action scenes i've ever seen. There was no sense of coherence, geography, or anything else that can barely qualified as filmaking. It felt like it was filmed by someone throwing the camera down a flight of stairs.

The storyteling was muddled and the satire was juvenile like it was written by hyperactive 13 year old boy. The rules of the games especially Society were never really laid out in a coherent way. Just an outright terrible "film" like Crank 2.

It wasn't bad until the third act, which suffered from INSANELY lazy writing. It's like the dudes were having a really awesome time writing the first two, and then left it for a couple years, and just wanted to be done with it by the time their attention returned.

The film looks great and has some pretty trippy set pieces though, especially the basketball court, which put an awesomely surreal touch on the climax.

Here's hoping Butler never does another romcom for as long as he lives, because that dude has a ridiculously commanding presence, and rivals the likes of Willis or Stallone in how fun it is to watch him tear dudes up.

PS. Terry Crews for the fucking win. "Look at me Bitcccchhhhh."

I really liked it, but it was pretty different than I thought it would be. And, yeah, it's basically Crank 3, but that's okay. I would much rather see a movie that goes into total WTF? mode, for better or worse, than another by-the-numbers shoot em up.

I actually thought it was going to be over after his final battle in the game ad thought: "man, this is one short movie."

This style of directing really isn't for everyone, and can really only be effective in these kind of energetic, over the top movies, but I really admire what these guys are able to do with low budgets and a handful of digital cameras.
