Assjack - Hank Williams III's Metal/Punk Band

My brother Hannibal knows all about Assjack, but everyone else needs to know and love Assjack. This project has been floating around for awhile, but an official record has just now been released. It's self-titled and it's BADASS! It has a Superjoint Ritual vibe to it. III played bass for SR, so the similarities make sense. The songs are full of fuck. If you're into outlaw country, Assjack may appeal to you, but you do need to have an appreciation for heavy music.

It's going to be really fucking hard for me to not ramble on about how much Hank III rules, but I'll try. First off, the man is one of the hardest working musicians out there today. He's the best live show you'll ever see, hands down. Every fucking night, a 3 hour show. Country set, Hellbilly set, Assjack set.

I for one was so proud when I heard Assjack was finally going to put out a studio album. For years, the only material out there was bootlegs from live shows (III fully approves of these BTW). Fans had been begging for an offical release and the nazi's at Curb finally let it happen. This album is the balls. Hank wrote and performed every fucking song on it by himself. The songs are heavier than my ex-girlfriends ass circa now. Production is perfect, THIS is how a bass drum should sound like goddamnit! Best thing is, theres a shiton of even more Assjack songs to get this treatment. III rules, that is all.

I can't wait to pick up this cd. Anything by Hank III is gold as far as I'm concerned. Country-wise, he's one of the only "real" country artists out there (I am SO sick of all the shit that is considered country these days), his work with Superjoint was/is top-notch, and AssJack is one of the most original punk bands out there. He's a true musical genius.

You're fucking goddamned right. Listening to a III CD makes you want to be at a live show. Once his contrack with Curb expires, I expect many great things. He's got so much music that just needs to be released. There's a new country album in the works (he's playing 2 new songs live on the current tour BTW, and they both are great, check out YouTube clips for "The Rebel Within"), he's got a stoner/doom project he's been messing around with, plus a full album called This Aint Country (you can download it somewhere).
