View Full Version : David Caruso sucks

This is a really small (and you might say pointless) rant, but still, it's just for fun.

I was watching CSI Miami a while ago and all of a sudden I realized that David Caruso is an awful actor. I say this because I've seen somewhat of a small cult spring up around the guy after NYPD Blue, and that surprises me because, watching him in CSI was hilarious.

I mean, the looks half asleep in every scene, he seems to be in pain trying to make a facial expressión that's not a grimace, he speaks in the same monotone no matter the situation and he stands around striking tough guy poses, and always with his head cocked to one side or downwards. After a while you start to catch on to all these little bits and it's just embarrassing.

Not that the show itself is better (the retarded episode today was about a group of kids acting out a GTA-type game in real life), but since this guy is supposed to be the main character, you'd think he'd at least try not to look bored the whole time.

I've only seen a couple of episodes of CSI: Miami but I like Caruso. I thought he was pretty cool in the couple of eps of the show I've seen.

Plus, I'm a big fan of his work in the underrated movies Session 9, Jade, Kiss of Death and Proof of Life.

He works fine in Session 9. Everywhere else, he's awful.

It's funny to me how a gawky-looking ginger tries to be badass.

Id probably watch CSI: Miami if he wasnt on it. Personally I thought NYPD: Blue was better without him, except of course when Rick Shroder was on there but it was really good the last couple of years when Mark Paul Gosseler was on there (he really surprised me on how good he actually was). I much prefer CSI or CSI: New York just because Caruso is not on there.

I have to say, every time I go through channels and bump into CSI: Miami, I have to see just a tiny bit of Caruso. His presence and acting in that is pretty hilarious.

Well, except for that one clip.

I love him in King of New York. He has the best scene in that whole movie.

I saw a biography on him on tv the other day. He seemed like somewhat of a douche when his career was starting out.

I love how he can't begin a scene without taking off his sun glasses, it's ridiculous.

He was good in Session 9 and as the above posted clip is the deliverer of one of the greatest Fuck You's in cinema, heh.

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

Caruso isn't the greatest, but he was alright in Session 9, and he was easily the best thing about Proof of Life -- though that film was meh-riffic, so it wasn't hard to leave an impression with at least some effort.

I haven't seen enough of David's work to weigh in on the overall quality of his acting- But I have liked what I've seen thus far. Horatio Caine rules. :D

Caruso is un-lovingly referred to as Sideshot in my circle of friends. The way he poses for the camera is mind-numbingly bad. One-trick pony there.

Isn't this guy the whiney cop that gets his butt kicked like 10 times in First Blood? I haven't seen him in anything else.

I've seen better acting in elementary school plays.

It's a cosmic oddity that he has a career and the girl from Small Wonder does not.

This.

He`s about as convincing as a Michael Jackson fan these days.

The name Horatio Cane is one of the numberous reasons I can't handle this show as anything other than comic relief.

Caruso is and always has been awful. It's like there is some inexplicable push to have a red-headed male be a popular, serious actor.

CSI: Miami drinking game

Every time Horacio Caine put on / remove his sunglasses , you take a shot.
Every time Horacio Caine puts both his hands on his hip , you take a shot.

Bonus : Every time Horacio Caine makes a promise to someone , you take 2 shots.

I've been trying to figure out where that Burger King/McDonalds shop of this gif came from, finally I know. Saw that film years ago and must have completely forgotten about that scene.

I thought he was good in Session 9, can't say I'm a fan of the whole CSI thing but Miami is something I'll stick on if I can't get to sleep and it's on tv, always find him kinda funny in that.

Also I noticed that he NEVER, EVER looks at the person he's talking to, unless it's a quick glance or he's right up in the bad guy's face growling at him. I think in person he's probably a real wussie.
