So Jay's album was just leaked and I gotta say, it's pretty damn good, much better then American Gangster and Kingdom Come.

I'm waiting for the release, though this is very tempting. Jay Z is one of the few modern hip hop artists I actually want to support by buying these days.

I was talkin to some of my buddies about this (all big Jay Z fans) and we all thought it was good...not great though.

I wasnt too impressed with a lot of the production. With all those big name producers, you would think there would be some sicker beats on it but maybe some of the tracks will grow on me.
My favorites right now are "Off That", "So Ambitious"(good to see The Neptunes making something decent again) and "DOA".

I got to say though, "Young Forever" is so wack and corny. I was kind of embarrassed for Jay Z. For those that havent heard it yet, the sample is hilarious.

Nout wrong with a bit of Alphaville, but that did kind of catch me off guard for a Jay-Z.....then I found myself enjoying it.

Album is great, obviously behind Reasonable Doubt & The Blueprint, doubt I'd rank it over The Black Album either, but maybe, we'll see how it holds up, so 4th right now.

You really like it more than American Gangster? I just downloaded it, and I'm disappointed through the first listen. There's 3 songs I couldn't even listen to, they were just terrible.

My favorites are "Empire State of Mind" and "Thank You."

Yeah, much more. American Gangster was a huge disappointment for me :cool:

I like it, but it sounds more like a sequel to Kingdom Come than The Blueprint. Every track is solid, some a lot moreso than others, but it doesn't have as many standout tracks as some of his better cds. I'm not sure where I'd place it on my Jay-Z rankings, but it doesn't touch his top 4 of Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, Black Album, and American Gangster. It's not amongst his bottom 3 either, so it's somewhere in the middle. A good cd that could grow on me more in time.

Not so keen on this one, certainly not better than American Gangster. Too many pop/dance beats for my liking.

My favourite tracks would be D.O.A and Empire State of Mind, I like the concept of A Star is Born as well.

That was my initial feeling after listening to it a few times as well, i dont know if i still feel that way, BP3 has a lot more re-listening value than Kingdom Come. Blueprint 3 would be a perfect album IMO if it wasn't for Reminder, thats the only song i dont love, its amazing how much play this album still gets from me a year later, a modern hiphop classic.
