Does anybody else write reviews on Netflix every once in awhile?
I only contribute one every once in awhile if I really want to speak up about something. While my "friends" on the website almost always punch "agree" on my reviews, it seems like anybody else who reads my reviews punches "disagree."
Now, I don't want to stomp on toes because everyone has an opinion, but I really don't think everyone on Netflix reads the actual content in some of the reviews. I think I'm very reasonable and rather insightful in my rather condensed write-ups, but I picture Rob Zombie fanboys flipping through the pages on Netflix and crucifying anyone who disagrees with them. Obviously, this post stems from my recent shock at so many people disagreeing with me on the quality on Halloween II. What's funny is that two of the three reviews highest favored on the Halloween II page, if you check it out, are very positive. Additionally, if you check out most movies on Netflix, highest approved reviews are all around 4 or 5 stars on the front page. It's as if nobody on Netflix believes in "bad" or "mediocre" movies.
If the film is bombing and suffering from mostly universal bad reviews, then why are the Netflix public mostly positive towards Halloween II? If the point to this thread is somehow lost to you, then I apologize. I just really wish there was a "Respond to Review" button or something on Netflix that way people could tell me why they disagreed with what I had to say. The last time I wrote a review prior to Halloween II was Quantum of Solace and that review was heavily disagreed upon as well (by nearly 70% of the readers).
Anyway, short story long, I don't think I'm going to write for Netflix anymore. There's only so much given space for the tiny reviews they allow you to write anyway, but I also feel it's pointless to spend time writing up something thoughtful and only have 20-30% of people agree on it while someone else simply writes "This film RocX!" and receive 75% approval. I'd rather write reviews here on JoBlo and be allowed to discuss them with reasonable people.
Has anybody else suffered from this problem or am I alone in my frustration?
