View Full Version : Two Music Tributes, Two Parodies, a Lennon childhood flick, and NO BEATLES MOVIE YET?

The Doors, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Notorious BIG, EMINEM!, Bob Dylan, Elvis, the Jacksons, and many more bands/artists have had their stories turned into movies in either TV or big screen form. There's an upcoming movie about Lennon's childhood, one about Brian Epstein, one about the fucker that killed Lennon, and even a VH1 fake retrospective movie. WHERE THE FUCK IS A BEATLES MOVIE?!?! I know it is a dangerous task. Arguably the most inspirational band of all time, but can't a decent director (I'd love to see Richard Linklater) tackle the bands rise and fall. My idea was always for two movies, one about the beginning and rise to fame, and one about the middle and end. I just do not see of all the bands and singers that have gotten them, the Beatles have gotten the shaft. Studios actually felt the need to make a Bobby Darin flick before this? COME ON! Make an epic movie or two about the rise and fall of the Beatles, cast some talented unknowns, make a killler soundtrack, and THERE, a fucking Beatles Movie! I love Ray, and if that movie can make it, I am sure a Beatles one would draw a crowd. THERE! I said IT!
PS. The perfect title would be "Hello, Goodbye"

The Beatles? Pfft! ;)
I'd love to see a movie about them, too, darn it.

Someone hasn't seen Backbeat:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106339/
There's also that VH1 Movie about John and Paul with Jared Harris and Aidan Quinn called Two of Us: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0228979/ (is that the one you were talking about?) and apparently there's a fictional recreation of their early years I'd never heard of called The Birth of The Beatles: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078865.
So it may not have been done exceptionally well (neither were 8 Mile or the Jacksons movies), but it's been done.

In all fairness, Backbeat wasn't really about The Beatles, just mostly about their unknown drummer. It did have characterizations and showed their creation, but I think rambo is talking more of one highlighting their career, not just an obscure portion of it.
Personally, I would only want to see one if it was in the style of the appearance of The Beatles in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. There, now I said it!

I really want to see a big screen biopic of the Beatles and I agree that Richard Linklater would be an awesome choice to direct it. Id like to see it be treated as an ensemble movie instead of like how the Doors was pretty much just focused on Jim Morrison.

Yeah, but if it happens you know its gonna be Lennon and McCartney, but a true ensemble piece would be awesome. though Ringo never really had any scandal or anything I dunno what they could do after he replaced the original drummer.
"I wrote a song about an octopus!"
I would make love to Ringo Starr.

It'll be successful but people won't necessarily like what they see.
I doubt anybody wants their rose-tinted view of John shattered when they see him knocking ten shades of shit out of Cynthia and shagging numerous mutual best friends and groupies whilst she sits at home holding the baby.
Oh and then there's that bit where he abandons her and his firstborn Son, shacks up with Yoko and ignores the pair of them right up until his untimely death.
Great music...domineering, selfish not-so-great guy by most accounts.
And don't even get me started on Macca.
Sometimes it's better to just let the music do the talking.

Ray and Walk the Line (loved both) showed cheating and all that and I loved those movies as well.

Good god Georges son is literally the spitting image of him, shit that is almost freaky.
Really they are going to have to show all that about John because a lot of that stuff especially Yoko (bitch) did create a riff in the Beatles. It d be the more interesting aspects of the movie because they cant focus on the drugs that's been done alot and plus I dont think showing the drug usage in Ray and Walk the Line made people hate Johnny and Ray if anything it made them seem human after years of being icons.
I think itd be cool to name the movie While My Guitar Gently Weeps especially if it covers alot of that stuff but I do have selfish reasons as it is my favorite Beatles song mainly because George is my favorite singer out of The Beatles

You forgot there are actually two movies about his killer ;)
Yeah I'd like to see a Beatles biopic, two films preferably. I don't actually mind that it hasn't happened yet though, when they have a decent idea/script they will do it and if it never happens, we still have the music!

The main problem would be finding four people who resemble John, Paul, George and Ringo. This film will be impossible to make, unless by Zemeckis which would be legendary-wait-for-it-dary!
