The new Megadeth album is currently streaming on MySpace. I'm in love with it. It's a thrash monster. No question, it kills the uneven United Abominations. It's probably the best post-Risk Mega-effort, although I'm partial to The System Has Failed. There are incredible solos all over the fucking place. Dave needs to hold onto this line-up. So far, the stand-out cuts are "44 Minutes," "Bodies Left Behind," "The Right to Go Insane," and "Dialectic Chaos," a ripping instrumental that inaugurates the proceedings.

PS-The cover art is pathetic.

I picked up the CD today at the local CD shop. I enjoy it alot. The solos really shred. Daves voice sounds good. I am listening to it at work at the moment, so I didnt listen to every song all the way through.

I could see it being the best post-Risk album so far. World Needs A Hero was boring. System Has Failed was good. United Abominations had a few good songs. But most werent memorable and the album got old fast.

I know Megadeth will never top Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, or Countdown to Exctinction at this stage in thier career. But I am glad that Mustaine is Keeping Megadeth going. This new lineup is solid and I hope he keeps for atleast another album.

I agree. This photoshopped cover art is lame. This is Megadeth-not Linkin Park.

I've kind of grown out of Megadeth the same way I did with Pantera, Metallica, and Anthrax but this is still a great album. Hell, I'd say this is easily their best since Countdown To Extinction and it might be better than that one as well.

Having just heard this I gotta say it is basically very tight with a really good rhythm section and excellent technical chops;

but

for the most part it lacks the strong melodic depth of Rust In Peace, Peace Sells and some of their 90's material. The one song that does have traces of it is "The Hardest Part Of Letting Go.....Sealed With A Kiss". Other than that it is just solid metal.

I won't be buying this but I enjoyed the thrash-out.

Listened to a couple of songs online and I'll be looking to pick this up. My first Megadeth purchase since Youthanasia.

Megadeth has never been the same ever since Dave disbanded the Nick Menza/Marty Friedman era line up. Everything they've done since Cryptic Writings has been "Pretty Good" or "Okay" if you ask me.

Endgame is no exception. It's a good album with a couple good songs, but nothing really stands out as great. I've only played it through once, but none of the songs struck me as particularly memorable.

I bought Endgame today at a really cool record store where a lot of really cool metalheads like me hang out.* It's the perfect driving record. I can't wait to listen to it on a roadtrip. I don't care for Dave's vocals, though. It sounds like he's straining through every song, trying desperately to mimic the younger - and more pissed - man who laid the vocals down on "Sweating Bullets."

*I had to buy it at Hot Topic.

Headcrusher and This Is How It Ends stuck out for me. But, your right, no songs really jump out and are alot better than the song before it. This is the first post-RISK Cd that I can listen to all the way through. There are no awful songs. The 3 albums prior have some songs that I skip past.

By no means their best but I've listened to it a few times now and I'm liking it more with each. Looking forward to giving it a blast on the morning drive to work :D. Shame about the cover.
