Starring: Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Boris Kodjoe, Jack Noseworthy, Ving Rhames

Plot/Story/Whatever: People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates — sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It’s an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don’t exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer (Willis) discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate, risking his life to unravel the mystery.

If anybody is interested in reading the comic book that this is based on, pm me. I have the first 5 issues in .cbz format.

'Cuz I'm pretty sure this film will only be similar in name and premise only.

Surrogates doesn't look horrible, but it doesn't look good either. I don't think I'll see this anytime soon. I'll wait for the DVD instead.

Bruce Willis's heavily CGI'd "younger" face freaks me the hell out.

Well I saw this today. I will try to remain spoiler free.

It was alright. It is very I, Robot-ish in story structure.

It's a bit of a disappointment, it's a case of being good in all aspects but not great in any of them. It could have done with more action, there are a couple of set pieces but I thought the idea behind the Surrogates could have allowed for more robot action and superhuman action.

The story is engaging, it has it's twists and turns, but the problem is you've seen them all before.

Direction is decent and very similar to Mostow's Terminator 3. Very polished clean and colorful.

The acting was alright, but limited due to the fact the Surrogates lack emotion, but I guess this was done on purpose and further shows the difference between the humans and their robot counterparts.

Dialog was fine. Special effects were great, in the regard that I didnt notice I was watching many effects, everything looked believable and the only odd moments were Willis's younger face.

Basically it was good, I enjoyed it, but it wasn't groundbreaking in any way.

Surrogates does raise some interesting points for discussion. When you look around at our worl today, how far are we from totally disassociating ourselves from human interaction? How many people work from home, order their meals, and supplies online, without even talking to a human being. But Surrogates cant shake its been there done that feel(I,Robot,Westworld) Bruce Willis does a fine job as usual, and there are some cool action sequences scattered throughout ,but ultimately the film failed to hype me up and hold my attention.
Wait for the DVD Scale of 1-10 a 5

I can understand the I, Robot comparisons but I think this is a much better movie. I thought this was a pretty cool murder/mystery science fiction thriller with some decent action, some neat ideas and cool twists and turns. With a solid turn by Bruce Willis.

There is only one thing that I'm not sure makes sense.

SPOILERS!

If it were possible for just the surrogates themselves to be destroyed without the humans being killed, why didn't James Cromwell try and do that? He wanted to change the course of mankind when what he would have done would have killed nearly everyone. Don't make much sense to me. Seems like a pretty big plothole to me.

END OF SPOILERS!

Other than that though I quite liked the movie.

7/10

Comic SPOILERS

Because the studio wasn't brave enough to go with the original story from the comic where the death of the surrogate was treated as even worse than actually killing a person. You know... the thing that stressed the message the most.

I understand the comparisons with I,Robot, but this is a much better film than the 'meh' that was IR. Willis puts in a good performance, and I liked the action. A pretty cool movie, I had really low expectations while I waited in line. It suprised me.

7.5/10

Willis has mostly boring here, with only two good lines/scenes to play off, and the rest of the cast was even more dull, and the plot was far too easy to figure out and there were no surprises, and the movie looked as if made by the lowest bidder.

Finally saw this and I'm with the majority here... a solid 7/10 film.

This surprisingly compelling sci-fi film takes a while to set up its universe but delivers down the stretch. It's borderline whether they establish enough credibility so as to invest real emotion in to the characters and buy in to the premise. If you allow yourself to buy in to the bizarre concept of living life through android duplicates, then the film works on a few levels. It's somewhat weak on certain of those levels but raises interesting questions concerning the level of our technological dependency as we live our lives. The emotional aspect of this movie plays better thanks to a fine performance by Bruce Willis. His character's journey through this bizarre world is obviously the heart of the film and it's written and portrayed very well.

I don't know if it's because I knew nothing about it, I was high as hell, or it was just that good, but I really enjoyed this movie, even the cliched ending wasn't as horrible in this situation. Other then the score not fitting in certain spots I thought everything was pretty spot on. I say 7.5 out of 10

Saw Surrogates today on DVD and I see why people mostly ignored it in the theater. So much opportunity for a better movie wasted with silly plotlines and really weird looking "perfect" humans.

I watched this last year at the cinemas and enjoyed it. The originality of the Film is what I liked about it the most but not a great Film by any means. A lot of my mates that have only seen the trailer thought that it looked really similar to I Robot. I can assure everybody that they are both very different Films.
