This isn't being released in the US for a while (the first one took a long time after its Canadian release before it was released in the US) but it comes out in Canada this Friday. I wasn't a huge fan of the first film (it had some very funny moments, but was a bit of a disappointment compared to the TV show), but there are many episodes of the TV series that are absolutely hilarious. This film (as well as the previous film and the entire TV series) was filmed not far from where I live and I've seen the cast members dozens of times out and about. I had tickets to the premiere this past Thursday at the Atlantic Film Festival but got overwhelmed with some course work and had to sell them to some friends. But this show and film series are huge in NS and I look forward to watching this (baked) with some fellow fans (also baked) this Friday when the theatres are crammed like it's some summer action blockbuster epic. :D

I'm a huge fan of the tv series. It's definitely one of the best shows I'v watched in the last decade.

The only thing that sucks about this is no Cory and Trevor.

Weren't the boys supposed to be locked up for a long time after the dance? How far in the future is this?

Hopefully Lahey hits the liquor harder than ever before. Like a swish bender.

First I will answer your question about Cory and Trevor and why they aren't on the show.Basically Micheal Jackson (Plays Trevor) was removed from the show due to money reasons. He wrote lengthy blog about how the shows producers have become far to greedy and they are no longer on the show because of financial issues.

Okay now the new movie Liquor day.Going into this I was incredibly excited as a huge fan (believe me the crap I can quote isn't funny) and overall I gotta say this wasn't as strong as the first film or the tv show but it was still filled with some great laughs.

The movie starts with the boys getting out of a 2 year prison (with a hilarious parole hearing for Ricky and Julian) stint and upon returning home to Sunnyvale, things have changed drastically.Julian decides to start up an auto body shop and Ricky tries to run a dope operation on the side.Bubbles main role here is to get his cats from the SPCA, Lehey is drunk as hell and Randy returns to prostitution.

I won't spoil any of the film for fans and above can pretty much be seen in the trailers. One thing that kind of felt off here was it felt like a movie and no so much like a documentary as the show and previous movie encaptured, there are moments when it clicks but it feel much more produced then natural at times.

For those who enjoy the show for characters you may be a little dissapointed to see some are not present, the key players are all there and some good Phil Collins moments but the missing characters like Trevor and Cory (Randy was somewhat put in their place as Julians Lacky) and personally I wish a few obscenities from Danny would have been nice.

Another thing that was a little unexpected was the actual character development as some of them felt weird (Bubbles was pretty angry through out this entire film and somewhat of a downer at point, still funny though).Jroc is in the film alot as well and his character felt like a giant douche and was overplayed and over done far to much for my liking.
It also feel acting wise that they seems tired of these roles and it just doesn't have that energy the show or first film did.

Overall the film is good, if you are a fan you will have a good time.If you aren't that familiar with the show you will definitely find some good laughs but it would be advised to watch the show first or the first film because this film kinda assumes you know who these people are and a few things may go over peoples head who aren't familiar.

Rating 7.5/10

Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day - 6/10

As a fan of the show, which is hysterical, the first film in the series disappointed me. A lot of it felt really forced and a lot of jokes fell flat. This entry though, is much better. Instead of feeling like an extended episode with weak jokes (like the first one) it actually feels like a film and seems worthy of its runtime. It's still not as good as the show, but it's absolutely hilarious. There are plenty of great jokes, some really quotable lines and each of the main characters gets plenty of time to shine (something that didn't happen in the first film). Being that I am from Nova Scotia, it was also great to see plenty of locations in Halifax that I am very familiar with. On that note, I must also mention that there were quite a few jokes that will have Canadians laughing hysterically, while some Americans won't have any idea what the fuss is about. There's a joke about Canadian Tire that was really brilliant and had me laughing for a solid minute. But regardless, American fans of the show will still dig the film and I recommend they give it a watch when it becomes available to them. So overall, I really enjoyed this film. Plenty of laughs, very entertaining and much better than the first film.

Loved that part, especially considering the truth behind it. People actually use it as a method of exchange outside of the store. I used to live a block from a liquor store that would take it at par.
