Armageddon
Independence Day

The Last Boy Scout

I still dont understand the hate for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, I love it. Its a well made movie with an awesome cast, any movie with Rickman and Freeman is automatically awesome in my eyes. Costner doesnt attempt an English accent and Ill take that over a shitty accent any day of the week. There are a shit load of other movies where the main character doesnt try an accent and they dont get shit.

My choice picks from your lists:
Road House
Commando
Three O'Clock High
Deadly Friend (You must be one of the other twelve people who have seen it)
Real Genius
Steel Dawn (the OTHER Swayze Dawn)
Killer Klowns from Outerfuckingspace. Yes.
I'd also like to add:
Next of Kin

Birth
Candyman
Both excellent. Were they badly recieved?
Antichrist
...has been pretty well recieved overall. Even the haters are praising aspects such as the startling cinematography, score and performances.
The Hitcher (1986)
...doesn't belong here at all. It's a modern classic and generally regarded as such. It has 7.2 on Imdb and I've seen in a great many 'Best Of' lists.
It's in my personal top 50 and I don't see it as a questionable inclusion.
My choices,
The Jazz Singer (Neil Diamond)
Purple Rain
Road House
976-Evil
Under The Cherry Moon
Gummo
Electric Dreams
Tommy

I'm going to list a few flicks that I don't think have been mentioned yet ( and I actually agree with most of whats on here already)
The Last Dragon
Freaked
Cool World
Mystery Men
Tango & Cash
Gone In 60 Seconds (the remake)
Demolition Man
and of course, Point Break

A few cheesy disaster flicks from the 70's: Beyond The Poseidon Adventure and When Time Ran Out! Also, Grease and Grease 2.

The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)

I liked it. It is weird, that's for sure, but not that bad. I thought the end was great.

10-07-2009, 07:14 PM
Tango and Cash was classic film making, and anyone that doesn't like that movie needs to get punched in the face.....I'm just kidding but that movie rocks and it was on network tv last week, I only got to see the last 20 minutes but I still watched it and loved every second of it.
Some more favorites;
1.) The Octagon (best Chuck flick there ever was)
2.) Lone Wolf McQuade
3.) Invasion USA
Powerslave
10-07-2009, 08:01 PM
Speed Racer was brilliant.
Also, Can't Hardly Wait. I've seen that movie countless times, and it just keeps getting better.

Wouldn't say I love, but enjoy and have seen the following more than once:
One Crazy Summer
Tapeheads
Con Air
Pushing Tin
America's Sweethearts
Basically, I'll watch John Cusack in anything (though War, Inc and Road to Wellville are miserable and 2012 looks just as bad).
Also:
All three Star Wars prequels (the last two are probably more well-regarded, but I dig Phantom Menace too)
Sgt. Bilko
Sphere
The Stupids
Strange Brew
Spies Like Us
Jersey Girl (these three I love)
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Tommy Boy
Black Sheep
Lucky You
Hulk
Running Scared
BASEketball
The Great Outdoors
Maximum Overdrive
Airheads
Demolition Man
Breathless ('83)
Junior
Undercover Brother
Speed Racer represents the dawn of the coming end of coherent cinema, but it's the best movie I've ever encountered to watch on hallucinogens. Mind-blowingly awesome color porn.

I'd also add Hostage. I think pretty much everybody else hates that movie.
I thought it was pretty damn good, not Bruce's best but certainly an enjoyable movie and pretty damn intense too.
Id have to add
Air Force One (mainly because the people who like it love it and the people who dont despise it and I love it)
The Ghost and the Darkness (maybe this belongs in the mediocre thread but I love it, I think Michael Douglas is good for the 30 minutes in it and I love Tom Wilkinson's part in it)

Almost forgot. TROMA movies.
Demolition Man
Hell yes. It's interesting that Robocop gets its dues as a clever and hilarious satire but this and Last Action Hero seem not to.
Also... oh, the shame, I really like Get Over It. I know its wrong, but there's something so endearing about how stupid that movie is.
This year both Martyrs and Antichrist have fallen into the love it or hate it category. I loved both.
Others
Masters of the Universe (it's a nostalgia thing, sue me)
Plan 9 From Outer Space (dumb, but fun, and in no way the worst movie ever made)
Doom (it does exactly what it says on the tin)
Looney Tunes: Back in Action (better than Space Jam)
ilovemovies
10-09-2009, 07:27 PM
Oh man I agree with Demolition Man and ESPECIALLY Masters of the Universe!
Dolph Lundgren has only done 2 movies that I have really liked. Masters of the Universe and Universal Soldier, another movie to add to my list. That movie is a blast.
I must confess to also really enjoying the Billy Baldwin/Cindy Crawford action flick Fair Game. The acting is pretty bad but it's just a very enjoyable action flick. Plus, Selma Hayek has a great cameo!

Tommy Boy
Black Sheep
I think you're one of the few shmoes I've seen mention these 2. As stupid as they are, I still think Chris Farley and David Spade are great to watch together in them.

Chris Farley is to me what I think Adam Sandler is to a lot of other people but for whatever reason is decidedly not to me. I don't care how bad or dumb those movies are, his goofy charm totally appeals to me and I crack up every time, they're comfort movies.

"Running with Scissors" is a movie I admire but, oddly enough, few other people seem to also admire. It seems as though it was too dark for the Wes Anderson crowd, but too quirky for the "Requiem for a Dream" crowd.
I'd categorize "Novocaine" in the same group.

Who the hell thinks Demolition Man and Robin Hood are bad movies?! I will fuck their shit up!
I agree with:
Sphere
Speed Racer
The Postman
and of course:

I would also add:
Pearl Harbor - for a movie that made $200 million, it's hard to find anyone who liked it.

It is one of the few movies to get the covetted 0/10 in Rambo's rating system. See in my rating system, 0/10 is a movie so insanely bad that you will love it.

I love topics like this. We're all united in our shame and there ARE no innocents :D I echo a lot of the '80's action flicks and moronic comedies mentioned here in particular, but I guess my biggest WTF choice would be:
http://www.dan-dare.org/Dan%20Mario/SuperMarioBros-TheMovie-Small.jpg
Just a lot of goofy fun, and since it hasn't killed anyone that I know of, it's something I have no qualms in admitting I still like to pop in every once in a while (on VHS, of course, I like to kick THIS shit old school...).

Cop No. 633
10-13-2009, 11:50 PM
Money Train
This movie was eaten alive by the critics. But you know what? Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes really do have fantastic chemistry. The entire movie is built around this truth and while it's not as good as White Man Can't Jump, it's still watchable for me because of them. Harrelson is one of those actors I can watch in anything and always dig his work. Even when he's just doing his thing, he's incredibly entertaining.

Halloween 3
Yes, a personal favorite terrible movie! Simply brilliant. Also:
Joe Dirt
Pootie Tang
Out for Justice
Can't really explain why I like the first two so much, but I can watch them any time they're on, knowing full well they are just awful. But Out for Justice... beautiful cinematic gem. Seagal in I what I guess would be considered his prime having one-sided fights throughout the entire movie, William Forsythe being a legit bad guy, terrible dialogue, and a guy called Sticks who lives up to his name.
Also Under Siege, depending on people's opinion on whether or not its good. Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey as bad guys, Erika Eleniak as Miss July 1989 looking hot, despite her terrible haircut. It's like Die Hard on a battleship.

Elizabethtown - got so many mediocre to awful reviews but I LOVED it! Infact, it's my second favorite movie of his behind only Almost Famous.

It's been a long time since I watched it, but I think I remember the editing being REALLY bad in that movie.
Here it is.... This quote from Village Voice sums up my thoughts:
"
85 percent explosions and editing idiocy (a window can't break without director Peter Hyams cutting between five different angles) and 15 percent Arnold trying to grow a third dimension."

Eh, I disagree. The editing is pretty tame in my mind. I didn't think it was flashy in any way. Peter Hyams is always a pretty straight forward director. Maybe you're thinking of Stigmata, which came out about the same time - that movie is what I would call edit crazy, but I still liked it.

Transformers Revenge of The Fallen (It has major flaws but I enjoyed the action, score, Megan Fox, and FX)
Yea its distasteful in pretty much every aspect especially Wheelie humping Megan's leg, the old Transformer farting out a parachute, and pretty much every scene with the twins but the action and the FX were pretty good and I honestly couldnt help but laugh at a lot the parts with Wheelie and the part where mom gets high and tells those girls about Sam losing his virginity. I did find Leo annoying and the Twins really did get old but for all its flaws (especially the bad dialogue) it knew the kind of movie it was and I was entertained by it for the most part.

Clue
Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Day of the Dead (Romero's)
Candyman
El Mariachi
Desperado
Midnight Run
Something Wild
Targets
These were all well received and are close to or over a 7.0 on IMDB and close to or over 70% (Midnight Run has 100%) fresh on Rotten Tomatoes so I don't know where these movies get the bad reviews from. With good reason too, because they are all pretty great. Unless a friend or something disliked them (How can you dislike Clue).
I thought Hard Boiled was considered one of the best action movies ever by everyone (Even the snobbiest critics liked Hard Boiled). Unless you mean Hard Target which certainly fits here and despite having some great action sequences is really stupid at times but in a fun way.
Echoing what others have said:
Rocky IV
Cobra
Commando
Roadhouse
Red Dawn
Point Break
Mortal Kombat
The Running Man
Last Action Hero
Antichrist (I can't believe how many people hate this film, it's such a great movie.)
Bloodsport
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
The Last Dragon
Freaked
Ernest series (The ones after the Ernest Scared Stupid are all awful though)
Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your'e Juice In The Hood
I'll add:
Hot Rod
Dirty Work
Wet Hot American Summer
Santa's Slay
Jack Frost (The killer snowman movie)
Leprechaun 2 and 3
Bug
Saw 3 (A lot of people rank it as the worst film of the series and I thought it was the last good one)
Big Top Pee Wee
Hatchet
Body Snatchers (I liked it as much as the original but not as much as the 1978 version, Meg Tilly was creepy as hell and a bunch of character actors I love get to shine)
Sidekicks
Blood Diner
Friday The 13th Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, and Freddy Vs Jason
Good Burger
Basket Case
Nightmare On Elm Street 4

I don't know if this is generally considered 'bad,' but it's a helluva lot funnier than the somewhat overrated "Airplane!" There are fewer obvious jokes...and you've GOT love a movie that lampoons 2 highly disparate movie genres at once: the Elvis musical and the WWII espionage thriller.

End of Days is the shit! It is one of the most underrated Arnold movies out there. Gabriel Byrne is the shit in it. There are some great Arnold lines. And some great action scenes.

Alien Resurrection. I don't know why everyone always shits on this movie.
I'm with you ... i think it's one those 'greatest underated sequel TOP 10' movie. I think most ppl spitting on that movie stuck with AlienS and didn't give a shit about any sequel to start with.
Alien : Resurrection got a lot of thing going for it
1. its got a great story twist
2. the underwater scene is totally awesome
3. JPJ camera work is really original
4. Ron Perlman & Brad Dourif ... 2 legends in 1 movie
5. Ellen meets embryo lab
I'm not saying it's the greatest sequel ever but it does a pretty good job for the Alien franchise continuity
So yeah i love Alien: Resurrection =)

I am pretty sure I saw someone toward the top that actually liked Hot Rod. THANK YOU! Geez finding someone else that liked that movie was starting to seem like an exercise in futility. I laugh every single time I watch it and that's what's important right? I really love that movie. (Cool Beans)
Some others I like that I've noticed a lot of people defecate on:
The Boondock Saints
Joe Dirt (They clean the bowl so you don't have to!)
Not Another Teen Movie (Reggie Ray stays in the game goddamn it!!!)
Super Troopers (Who wants a mustache ride?)
Nacho Libre (Get that corn outta my face!)
Blades of Glory (I'll get inside your face!)
Total Recall (Give these people air!)
And just about everything with Adam Sandler. (except Punch Drunk Love, Funny People, and Reign Over Me- I haven't seen them)

These were all well received and are close to or over a 7.0 on IMDB and close to or over 70% (Midnight Run has 100%) fresh on Rotten Tomatoes so I don't know where these movies get the bad reviews from. With good reason too, because they are all pretty great. Unless a friend or something disliked them (How can you dislike Clue).
ahhhh, this post was meant for movies considered mediocre that you love. My bad.

A lot of these for me are slashers like I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (one of my fave guilty pleasures) or House of Wax, I love the genre even though it's terribly received by most.
I love movies starring Sarah Michelle Gellar that attain mostly awful reviews - like Southland Tales, The Air I Breathe and The Return (emphasis on the former two films). Called me biased..doesn't bother me. I enjoy all of them a lot, and not solely based on Ms Gellar's presence, though it certainly doesn't hurt ;-).

I recently rewatched the 1999 remake of The House on Haunted Hill and would definitely have to say that this version belongs here. Disturbing, gory and a fun cast make this IMO a great movie that wasn't well received.
