This is in tribute to those overlooked and/or underappreciated villains and the talented bastards that play them. Grubers and Jokers and Stansfields need not apply here, so with that said, here are some of my picks to get the ball rolling:

- Eric Qualen (John Lithgow, Cliffhanger)
- Francis Wolcott (Garret Dillahunt, Deadwood [TV])
- Darryl Revok (Michael Ironside, Scanners)
- John Ryder (Rutger Hauer, The Hitcher)
- Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow, In The Mouth Of Madness)
- Fatima Blush (Barbara Carrera, Never Say Never Again)
- Lt. Hiram Coffey (Michael Biehn, The Abyss)
- Caesar (Joe Pantoliano, Bound)
- Alfredo Grossi (Thomas Kretschmann, The Stendhal Syndrome)
- Pooh-Bear (Vincent D'Onofrio, The Salton Sea)
- Pik van Cleef (Arnold Vosloo, Hard Target)
- Rhodes (Ray Liotta, Identity)
- Curly Bill Brocius (Powers Boothe, Tombstone)
- Jerry Blake (Terry O'Quinn, The Stepfather... The REAL one, I mean)
- Albert Ganz (James Remar, 48 Hrs.)
- Cherry Ganz (Andrew Divoff, Another 48 Hrs.)
- Evelyn (Jessica Walter, Play Misty For Me)
- William J. Johns (Cole Hauser, Pitch Black)

And on and on and on, but I'll stop there. Have at it...

And Full Metal Jacket I doubt anyone would have predicted a female sniper. And Robocop its not a given that Dick is behind the crime organisation. And Rear Window first time viewers, especially those unfamiliar with Burr, wouldn't necessarily know he was the killer straight away. They wouldn't therefore have suspected that Mrs Thorwald would be the first victim. So its a spoiler to tell people who the killer is. And I like spoiler tags, sorry but I just do..

Great picks especially Tavington and Nottingham, Prince of Theives gets entirely too much shit. I love it mainly because of Alan Rickman. I dont know if you can consider Daggett unsung because Gene Hackman won an Oscar but you really dont hear people talk very much about him when they talk great screen villians but he's a great villian.

Im glad that someone showed Sleepy Hollow some love, you kick ass Tagia.

I figured that very rarely do you find a dastardly female villain, and I just happened to think of Miranda Richardson's role which she played so damn well. Plus, Walken in the same movie is a huge given.

HELL YES!

John Malkovich is one scary mother fucker!

I also thought Gabriel Byrne and Currie Graham did a great job of making you hate them in the Assault on Precinct 13 remake.

Speaking of Byrne, he was great as the devil in End of Days. Everybody always mentions Pacino's turn as the devil in The Devil's Advocate, but Byrne was great as well.

Sean Bean in the Hitcher remake as well. Scary and pure evil dude.

I've actually had discussions on whether or not he's actually a villain on these boards (that was a while ago though). Yes, he won the Oscar (deservedly), but there've been a lot of Oscar winning villains, especially recently that are discussed a lot: Hannibal Lecter, the Joker, Anton Chigur. But Lil Bill is hardly recognized AT ALL . . . even by movie buffs.

Speaking of Byrne, he was great as the devil in End of Days.

Virgil "The Turk" Solozzo (Al Lattieri) - The Godfather
Guy de Lusignan (Marton Csokas) and Reynald de Chatillon (Brendan Gleeson) - Kingdom of Heaven * man those guys were douchebags
King Edward The Longshanks (Patrick McGoohan) - Braveheart
Brick Top (Alan Ford)- Snatch
Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen)- Reservoir Dogs
Jerome "Jerry" Lundegaard (William H. Macy)/Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare)/Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi)- Fargo

Great picks, Csokas in my opinion is a very underrated actor him and Gleeson (who is one of my favorites) were both great in Kingdom of Heaven. Ford as Brick Top was just fantastic, that whole movie had great characters. I always love Stormare and Buscemi in the Coens movies, they are always great with the Coens. McGoohan shouldve gotten nominated for Longshanks. Daniel Craig was excellent in Road to Perdition, he actually made me hate him so much in that that I wasnt sure how I felt about him as the new Bond at first. D'Onofrio is just plain awesome, he made the Cell. That would not have been half as good if he had not been in it.

I love both Stormare and Buscemi, they both play great slimy jackasses, but William H. Macy made Fargo for me. Jerry Lundegaard is so dangerous in my opinion because he's a family man. An overly nice guy that you wouldn't think would be involved in something like this but here he is hiring a couple maniacs to kidnap his wife! That scene where he's trying to scrape the ice off his windshield and just loses it is priceless. His desperation is at the core of the mayhem happening in small town North Dakota/Minnesota.
