The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
Constantine (2005)
V For Vendetta (2006)
Watchmen (2009)

From the choices listed above, which is your pick of the lot? And if you want to add, why?

Watchmen was awesome, but V for Vendetta will always hold the top spot for me if only for the thematic content.

With the exception of LXG being, imo, more like a 4-5/10, I agree with that list.

I found V For Vendetta to be far more superior to Watchmen personally.

I also have a soft spot for From Hell, primarily because I love the whole story surrounding The Ripper (or RipperS) and I don't know what it receives so much hatred. Sure, Heather Graham had no business being in that movie and she sucked as hard as her character in Boogie Nights (if you get my drift), but I found the adaptation to be quite respectable as a whole.

V For Vendetta is the good one.

I would have to say Watchmen. Although it is more of a surface adaptation (has all the content, but lacking in emphasis), it was visually remarkable, very entertaining and although the emphasis of some of the themes wasn't quite there, they were still present and it was a hell of an attempt to adapt probably THE hardest graphic novel to adapt.

Constantine and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen were crap. From Hell was decent, but flawed. V for Vendetta was good, but it could have been SO much better. I try to think of it as a stand alone film, but it's tough when it had an opportunity to incorporate the themes of the graphic novel but basically threw them in the trash.

1. V for Vendetta (8/10)
2. From Hell (7/10)
3. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (7/10)
4. Constantine (6/10)

Have yet to see Watchmen.

I think I just prefer the themes and the story of V for Vendetta, all the cast are really good too. From Hell & Extraordinary Gentlemen are both entertaining tales with cool characters and Constantine had it moments but it was a bit too ambitious an adaptation and didn't really know where it was going.

I hope everyone who has choosen V as their favorite has gotten the opportunity to read the graphic novel, because the film strays just as heavily away from it as all the other adaptations.

Where the film version preaches "Democracy," the novel preaches "Anarchy."

I'm judging as a movie, not as an adaptation. As a movie, I LOVE the hell out of V for Vendetta! It's one of the best movies of the decade IMO!

Watchmen - 5/5
V For Vendetta - 4.5/5
Constantine - 4/5
From Hell - 4/5
The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen - 3/5

In the end, it's Watchmen all the way for me (especially the DC, which made the film even more awesome).

As of right now, Watchmen is my pick. I absolutely loved it.

I have yet to see V For Vendetta because I have been stalling on watching it until I read the book 1st, like I did with Watchmen. Hopefully that will happen soon as I just bought the book today at Borders.

I have a soft spot for From Hell because of the insane expression on Ian Holmes face as he broils a human heart.

That scene is so money it doesn't even know how much money it has.

I watched From Hell immediatley after finishing the comic and i still have such a strong resentmment for that film which is probably irrational. Easily Watchmen for me, i thought Synder did an awesome job on it.

Definitely Watchmen. I was a little disappointed that there was no giant squid alien thingy but still Watchmen with V for Vendetta following closely behind.

Watchmen - Starting to think I'm in the minority of those that thought the change in ending was for the better. A giant squid brain thing? Really wouldn't have worked well on film.

V For Vendetta is just behind it.

Where the film version preaches "Democracy," the novel preaches "Anarchy."

Which is precisely my problem with the film. It had the opportunity to tackle such an interesting idea, but then chose a much less interesting theme. And the fact that it's an adaptation makes it even worse. Why downgrade from a much more interesting approach to a much less interesting approach? I'll never know.

I think a lot of the book doesn't work on film

Oh no I agree with you. The change in the ending was better. Just took me a little longer to accept it. :)

I hated the novel's ending regarding the squid, and the entire sex sequence between Laurie and Dan after ten million people just died. The film's ending gave Dr. Manhattan a reason to leave and showed a Dan's reaction to what Veidt had done.
