Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi
Written by Olatunde Osunsanmi
Genre: Horror
Plot Outline: In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document-until now. Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where--mysteriously since the 1960s--a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas, Will Patton, Corey Johnson
Rated PG-13 for violent/disturbing images, some terror, thematic elements and brief sexuality.
Runtime: 98 minutes
Trailer had some intriguing moments, but my expectations are not high at all for this.

It looks great and on Facebook, Arrow just wrote that he thought it was amazing. Definitely very much looking forward to this one.

Doesn't look very promising, but I'll probably see it for Milla and hope for the best.

This looks OK, I will see it. Hopefully the trailer won't give away all the scares.

I have a feeling, like all trailers (most of which are cut by inbred morons), gave away all the good moments.
I've got high hopes, but I don't like getting TOO jacked about a flick, so I'll lower it to, "I wanna see this flick. It looks like it might be alright."

I think I'll be going in to this one with low expectations. I want to see it, but as somebody said before, I hope all of the good parts weren't given away in the trailer. Also, I heard the pixelated woman seen in the trailer is supposed to be very creepy looking when you actually see her in the film.

I really, really hated this. It felt like a soap opera and I really hated the split screen thing with the "real footage" and the footage they film. It was so distracting.

I imagine this is what a studio remake of PA would have looked like, just replace the alien abduction angle with a pissed off demon.
I still think it looks allright, but it's a rental

Alot of Potential , but zero crediblity left me not caring about this picture nor it story.
For the Record A Documented MURDER SUICIDED would never ever be released in a theater.

I saw this last night and it was good. It's not great but it entertained me from start to finish. It had some creepy moments that worked, such as the captured footage. Kudos to the director casting great actors. They were good enough to fool my friend that it was real. The story was interesting. It didn't take any huge leaps of logic that horror movies tend to do.
My main complaint would be Will Patton's scene chewing, which got pretty bad. I also was annoyed a bit with the captions that appears when an actor first appears or Dr. Tyler. When I read people complaining about that as if it was a HUGE thing, I have to sort of laugh.
The hypnosis scenes were done really well. The levitation bits were creepy and effective. Again, whoever these actors were, they did a great job. The whole split screen moments between the footage and the movie didn't distract me at all. It was pretty easy to follow.
I think many of the professional critics really went overboard on this one because it's not based on a true story. With that logic, you could disregard any other film of the found footage style. I think it's unlucky that it came out right after Paranormal Activity. It's a better film and it doesn't make the characters so stupid to advance its story.

I liked this movie a lot. And I personally think it kicks the shit out of that overrated piece of shit Paranormal Activity.
My one complaint about this movie is the ending and particularly involving Elias Koteas's character. His reaction to the ending, considering what he SAW FOR HIMSELF doesn't make much sense to me.
That complaint a side, it's a very good. Fascinating, gripping and it grabbed me from the beginning and never let me go. Milla Jovovich is very good here. Probably the best performance I've seen her give. I've always considered her to be lightweight actress. But she's terrific here. And she's supported by a superb cast especially Koteas and Will Patton. Plus, the actors playing the "real versions" did phenomenal work too. They were completely believable. If I hadn't already known that this movie is 100% fake, I might have bought it as actual footage. That's a real credit to those actors and to the director. Very good movie.

Good point about Jovovich, she was better than she usually is. I have to give her credit.
I think the point with Koteas' character is that he didn't want to believe it. He is too afraid to face the truth. He didn't want to believe it throughout the story. He tried to rationalize the situation way too much.
