I don't visit many webpages about movies, but I'm always keen to discover new ones... so I was glad when I found the A.V. Club, which has some pretty good articles and is very informative. At least it is when I actually get to read it.
I don't know why, but EVERYTIME I visit that page and I load an article, my browser freezes on me. So I either have to wait two or three minutes until it decides to get unstuck and actually let me scroll down the page, or watch happily as my browser crashes and I have to repeat the whole thing all over again (I've worn out the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys).
I've never understood why this damn site (and probably others) are so damn slow to load. Of course, it has to do with the fact that my laptop is over five years old and it's a complete piece of crap, but I've tried it on other PCs with other browsers and the same damn thing happens: try and scroll down an article, and the whole thing freezes up for no reason. (I know the safest course of action is to buy a new laptop, but unfortunately, I can't afford it now, unless I happen to win a lottery in a couple of hours)
I'd like to ask the people at the A.V. Club exactly what they do with their website to make it such a pain in the ass to visit. Too many graphics? Too many widgets or links? Too many ads? Who knows.
This has happened to me with a lot of websites... so, there's a lot of them I hate to visit nowadays because they're a chore to navigate through.
Whew, got that off my chest. I feel better now.
