HEY I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW LONG OR HOW MANY POSTS OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO BECOME A SENIOR SCHMOE OR WHATEVER YOU'LL CALL IT

Yes, but being called a 'junior' at my age surely is a compliment!
JoBlo

The secret number of posts is 30, Quent!
Anyone posting a minimum of 30 messages on JoBlo's Chathouse gets an automatic seniority boost from "junior schmoe" to an official "senior schmoe"... /ubb/smile.gif
Pretty kewl, eh...?
Okay, maybe not that exciting, but there it is.
JoBlo

Incidentally, Quent. I just wanted to let you know that using ALL CAPS on chat/message boards means that you ARE SHOUTING!!
Just a note to help make your experience at the JoBlo Chathouse a more memorable one.
Enjoy, kids... /ubb/smile.gif

I imagine Quentin will be embarassed/amused when he stumbles on this. It doesn't even seem like the same guy. But it was three years ago after all.

Whoa...classic JoBlo. Good stuff...
Wow, this was one of the first messages ever posted on the board once it switched into the new format (not THIS new format, a long ago new format). This is crazy, indeed.

Back "then" they didn't have too many forums and not too many people. So there wasn't that much posting... I think...

That's right, I was the first senior schmoe actually and I think that took maybe 2 or 3 weeks to achieve, originally there were only 6 forums and maybe two dozen people so things went by a lot slower...

Don't worry, they were. I was quite suprised that in your picture you didn't look like the Creature From The Black Lagoon after the first 6 months of posting were more or less about virginity and love of Transformers (funny how those two always coincide :))

Once you reach 1000 posts.
Infant Schmoe: 0-49 posts
Junior Schmoe: 50-249 posts
Senior Schmoe: 250-999 posts
Super Schmoe: 1,000-9,999 posts
King of All Schmoes: 10,000+ posts

Yeah, I remember I thought that you only needed to get 15 to be a senior schmoe, but you needed 30, so I tried to post a whole bunch to get 15 more posts, and I actually couldn't!

You forgot Stefanb who doesn't post so much anymore but is still lurking around. I think I saw him posting last week the last time...
But yes, it has to be said that each and every one of the old-timers have developed their conservational skills quite a lot during the last three years. I get a bit embarrased myself on some of my old posts...

"You have to remember that I'm a person who LOVED Charlie's Angels, despite the extreme silliness and cheesiness of the film. Spy Kids looks like a kiddie version of James Bond crossed with Charlie's Angels. In other words: It look like a helluva lot of cheesy fun!"

Now why would you get embarassed about some of your old posts?:D

I remember my first posts. *wipes a stray tear off of cheek reminiscing* I was defending Collateral Damage and Resident Evil. I guess I could've been (and still could) be a super hero called the BAD MOVIE DEFENDER.
Of course, 'round these parts I reckon I'd be more of an archvillain than a "hero". So in that case, who shall be the Superman to my Lex Luthor? Bwahahahaha! I will defeat you, whoever you may be!

My story is similar. I joined to defend Battlefield Earth (Which IS a bad movie, but still very fun) and The Beach (Which I STILL don't understand why some bash it without mercy).
Anywho, this post by QUENTIN was hilarious. It seems like a whole different person. He has become much less mature over the years.... ;)

Yeah I joined to defend Pearl Harbor (and I still stand by my opinion) back a little over two years ago now. This thread is funny. I didn't realize how old it was at first and I was like "why would Quentin say something like that--and in all caps?" lol I need to look at some of my first posts and see how stupid they are.
Yeah, my advice to anyone who's been here for a while is to search their posts and then go to the very first page. It's pretty funny. I have a couple of posts saying that I liked Road Trip. Hee-hee....

In fact, when I first joined I was still in love with Michelle Pfeiffer. Ahh, the good ol' days....

I remember when I was mostly a new schmoe, and I almost got banned after I posted a script in the filmmaking/screenwriting forum called "The Worst Movie In The World". I also typed another bad script called "Supermarket" in that same forum. The schmoes hated it, and I thought it was pretty crappy as well.

i looked at my foolish posts a second ago and i made myself really mad. First off i must of been drunk when i posted those cause i don't remember them. I broke so many rules, that i would have been banned 50 times and to top that i was always posting in the filmaking forums desperate for attention. Oh movie god strile me down. so anyways, i just wanted to say im sorry to any schmoe i have annoyed or have mentally hurt them in any way.

In that ancient thread..
Supposedly he lifted some of the story from "City of Fire"
He didn't just lift it - he practically copied it scene for scene in a lot of cases. It even has the guy who befriends the undercover cop shooting two cops through the windshield of a police vehicle with two pistols.
Well, I'm exaggerating. City on Fire doesn't have the out-of-order storytelling like Reservoir Dogs, but it is VERY obviously the same story. It also has more background on the characters. Unsurprisingly, it ends differently, reflecting different values about honor and loyalty.
QT is obviously a big fan of Chinese cinema (Kill Bill, just look at the trailer), so it's not really a ripoff so much as a different take on an identical story, IMO.
Reservoir Dogs is a superior film though.
