Is the cliff climbbing scene at the beginning of M:I2 real?

I think that only in certain parts Cruise could've actually been hanging out there. but not when he jumped to another ledge. there seemed to be some effect, almost like a matrix-feel, when he landed and when he was hanging like a gymnist and then the scene seemed to resume like before.

need to prove some friends wrong (or maybe not).

thanks.

Actually, the cliff scene was 100% real. In fact, knowing it was real and that that was actually Tom Cruise made me cringe and say "He didn't use a stunt man?!".

Also, the scene when Cruise jumps between ledges is real. John Woo even said they had to film that seven times.

i think it's cool that tom cruise did his own stunts in that movie and risked messing himself up.

Interesting you said "gymnist", espresso - Tom Cruise was a gymnist at one time. (at least I think I remember hearing that). Remember that scene in The Firm, where he does that little highbar routine?

Cruise did use a rope though while performing those incredible stunts.
