bring it on people....but why does everyone love this movie???? and who told mel gibson he could act????
the movie gives me a headache and i can't stand how filthy everyone looks. it's just like in the crucible, with daniel day lewis' teeth near the end...grab a toothbrush!!
this movie and mel are both overrated.

I think Scottish highlanders under the feudal grasp of England were without Crest extra-whitening toothpaste. Were you expecting them to be fighting in neatly pressed suits with fresh manicures and makeup?

This post has got to be here just to get a rise out of people. I loved Braveheart and think it has a beautiful message. However, if you want to concentrate on what their teeth looked like, then it's your money!

HUH? am i mistaken, but i dont remeber Daniel-Day Lewis being in Braveheart!

Other than that braveheart is my favorite movie of all time! it is beautifully acted, had great battle scenes and might be the first movie to get my teary-eyed at the end

I have to agree that this post is here to get a rise out of people. I thought Mel Gibson did a terrific job acting and directing. The movie was a great portrayal of the struggling that the Scottish had to do to earn their freedom from England. William Wallace was a hero, much like Martin Luther King Jr. Anybody that dies fighting to protect the rights of others is nothing short of a martyer in my eyes, and Gibsons movie made feel those things. The fights were gruesome, the romance was there, i felt sadness knowing that this man died in a horrific way to free the Scottish people, so I really didn't care about the fact that they were "filthy". If you did you missed a great movie, and you missed the point.

I can identify with the Mel Gibson bashing...I mean I love "Braveheart" but "The Patriot" was boring and lowest common denominator entertainment mixed with over-sentimentalized melodrama..."The Patriot" rivals "The Postman" as far as bad cinema is concerned..."The Patriot" was a half-ass partial rip-off of Kubrick's candle-lit film "Barry Lyndon" mixed with any number of "US of A" patriotism films. It's easy to sell a film to the USA when it roots for the USA. Just check out the Rocky films...

Hey darkblue baby, calm down... I was only stating my point of veiw... thats what we come here to do. You are entitled to your opinion, just like anybody else. But if yoou don't want people to bring it on you really shouldn't ask for it. You asked why everyone liked it, and thats what I posted. Relax... life is good. But if I can ask one question, what about this movie besides the fact that they were filthy made it so bad. What about this movie bored you?

i'm calm...but i said 'bring it on' because i knew a lot of people were not going to share my opinion and bash me cause this movie is pratically everyone's favorite. well, what kills me about this movie is mainly mel gibson, like i said i don't like his acting and even though it is based on a true story, it just did not draw me in. it's kinda like The Perfect Storm. I did not like it at all..i had no feelings for the characters and it was boring. They just never drew me in or interested me.

Interesting topic...The Perfect Storm is terrible....Braveheart is a very fine movie....what about Rob Roy or Michael Collins or both were pretty good films

Well, Darkblue, I think the millions of people who go to see Mel's movies told him he could act. What kind of movies do you like anyway? The Barney movie or the Little Mermaid? Something with bright colours and catchy nursery rhymes for the music, I suspect. Sid33, Rob Roy sucked major tit, except for the performance by Tim Roth, there was no redeeming qualities in that pile of shit. I didn,t like the movie much, sorry if i overreacted. /ubb/biggrin.gif

The movie "Braveheart" blows! No, it sucks! It could and should have been shortened by at least 1 hour. And Mel's imported Australian accent was a slap in the face for a true Scotsman. A bit o' the old kings english, I say.

Braveheart is a worthy "feel good" movie. But I will have to say it is severly overrated to the nth degree.

While "Braveheart" is a well directed film, I can't stand the melodramatic romance element and Mel Gibson drives me nuts...I liked him in "Payback" but what is with "Cospiracy Theory", "Ransom" & "The Patriot", just more examples of the huge Hollywood hype machine and more mainstream crap pervading my senses..."Braveheart" is way overrated (to quote from others)..."Rob Roy" was much better...
