Hey all, sorry for making a thread about this - I have trawled the net and can't find anything to help... Perhaps someone here can.

I used to play my Xbox360 on a HDTV, running it through the HDMI and everything was as it should be...

A few months ago I began playing it in my room using my PC monitor (again HDMI, but with the monitor port). This weekend I decided to take it back downstairs for the house to play on the same HDTV as previously... but nothing comes up on the screen, it just stays black...

I've plugged the PS3 into the TV using the same lead and HDMI port and it work fine. Anyone know why the Xbox wont display (it still does on my monitor).

Again, sorry to post... I've tried Microsoft support and not had much luck, perhaps if someone here knows or have had a similar problem they can help.

Much appreciated.

Not sure about the Xbox but i know wuth the PS3 you have to reset the vid settings if you are going form HD to the old standard Red, White and Yellow.

I'm betting it's something similar, perhaps your system is set to a resolution that your tv can't convert/handle?

Hope you can get it figured out, i remember the 20 minutes of stress or so i went through when i thought my new PS3 was broken.

Dunno if you tried using the HDMI cable on any other device in your house, because it could be the cable. You may have a faulty 360 HDMI port that's in need of repair though.

Thanks for the replies...

I have used the cable with my PS3 and it works fine, and the HDMI port works when connecting to my monitor.

I'm assuming its a resolution issue... But I have no idea how to select the correct res when I can't see what i'm doing on screen.

Surely it should automatically detect this?

You would think it would yeah but sometimes it's just not the case, heh. Just see if you can deafault/reset the vid settings then plug it into the device it's not working for and it may just reconfigure itself to it.

Sometimes I've had to turn the TV on and off to try and pick up the 360's HDMI port again.

The biggest problem I'm still having is the sound cutting out on the HDMI cable as soon as I start up a DVD or go to a different title or chapter skip or pause, etc. Then I have to turn the TV on and off each time, sometimes missing critical seconds of what I'm watching and it's a pain in the ass.

As stupid as it sounds, I actually haven't tried something that simple...

Will check it out when I get home, thanks!
