"THE" is important!!!

OK.....just a rant on something that really annoys me.....people who get movie titles wrong. How exactly are they getting it wrong? Well, my pet hate: the addition or subtraction of the word "THE". For example, I have heard countless examples of people saying how they really liked "Matrix" and "The Fight Club"....

NO NO NO! They are getting it all wrong....it is "THE Matrix" and "Fight Club" (no "the"). To change this is to change the emphasis of the movie. To say THE Fight Club suggests there is 1 club, in 1 place, when really Fight Club is more like an organisation spanning the country. And to say "Matrix" without "the" is the opposite effect. It is THE Matrix, the one and only!
People do this sort of thing all the time....for example, the worst example I have recently has to be "The Blade Runner". Goddammit! People get it right!!!!

That pisses me off as well. Its something you hear everyday, and slowly it builds up. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me wanna smack someone.

I also hate it when people say "alot" and not "a lot". The phrase a lot is 2 WORDS PEOPLE!!! Drives me crazy, I tell ya!

Yes, the mispronunciation of titles makes me angry too. I think everyone should spell the movie Seven as Se7en, it's just the way it was mean to be, dammit! Although, I think most people prefer the regular spelling.

I was going to post this under this same post yesterday but I thought it might sound too nitpicky. Oh well, here goes. For example:

"Which movie is better, Scream 1 or Scream 2?"

Now look at the above question. Shouldn't Scream 1 just be called, SCREAM? With no number behind it? I know people put a number behind the first film in say, a trilogy, to decipher between it and another one of the flicks in the trilogy, but that differentiation has always been somewhat of an annoyance to me. It's like if I said, "Boy, I sure do love Godfather 1," knowing full well the film is entitled THE GODFATHER.

anyway, these things with "the" don't really bug me, fight club is about not going along wiht the others, anti-everything. those who call it "fight club" are the people tyler despises, saying "the fight club" is not normal, is not doing what other people do and its what tyler likes /ubb/smile.gif
