It's time to settle this: which one's better?

I say Bill Paxton, he was great in A Simple Plan and in Aliens. Pullman's best performance was in Spaceballs /ubb/smile.gif

Bill Pullman for my money, easily one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood today. Bill Pullman is the man. But Bill Paxton was in True Lies and A Simple Plan so it is hard to decide.

But Bill Pullman's definitative performance is Zero Effect.

well, I guess Pullman does have his acting moments. But he still owes me 8 dollars for LAKE PLACID.

Bill Paton, hes always great (well apart from going gung-ho in Titanic) and often funny ("Friggin A!").
Pullman just seems to always have the same bemused look on his face, whatever hes in.

The only role that needs to be said about Bill Paxton is that of the older brother, Chet I think correct me if I'm wrong, in Wierd Science. That alone beats anything Bill Pulman has done.

Pullman is ok but Paxton has done so many more characters that are far more memorable.

Chet from Weird Science
True Lies one i loved him in that
Aliens Game over game over
Terminator
Twister was an ok role
Predator 2
he has done a lot more but i forget right now but i know there is more that he has been really great in

Paxton has definitely made the better films. Never really thought he was a great actor, but his roles in A Simple Plan and One False Move have me rethinking that. Also liked him in Near Dark.

Bill Paxton was on True Lies??? were? what was his role? the only guy I remember apart from Arnie is Tom Arnold, were was Bill Paxton??

by the way, Bill Pullman was on Lost Highway, I think Bill Paxton could never top that, a comic relief is the way I see Paxton...

"would a spy pee himself" that was one of the funniest lines in the movie and Bill fake spy role was the basis to much of the comedy

How could anyone forget his sleazy character is was awesome

They both have turned out brilliant performances... here's a few:

Pullman was great in:

- "Lost Highway"
- "The Last Seduction"
- "Zero Effect"

Paxton was great in:

- "Traveller"
- "A Simple Plan"
- "One False Move"

(Note: Bill Paxton played the sleazy car salesman / fake spy in "True Lies" that tries to f**k Arnold's wife)

Zero Effect is a GREAT film. I think it is the finest hour for all involved.

But in True Lies and every film subsequent where I see Paxton i always here the line-

'I got a little dick it's pathetic.'

So it is kind of hard to take him seriously. But if the rumors are true that he is in American Pie II as Stiflers dad, well that would be great.

Apples and Oranges...but I don't much care for apples...
Both of these guys have phoned it in, but Paxton has had moments (see magicman's list)
that Pullman can't touch. Sure, Pullman could have pulled off TWISTER, but Paxton could have easily done SPACE BALLS. I don't think we'd get a Chet (WEIRD SCIENCE)out of Pullman. Or a decent "game over..."(ALIENS), so, other than the name thing, there's really no comparing them. Apples and Oranges...

My vote is for Bill Paxton, he literally stole the show in Aliens
"game over man!"
