What movie did you see when you were a child that scared you shitless?

For me it was (don't laugh) Fire in the Sky, because of that one scene when the aliens were doing all these expierments on the lumberjack... and that fact that I heard it was based on a true story. FREAKED THE SHIT OUTA ME!!! /ubb/redface.gif

I forget the title of the movie, but it was a made-for-tv movie about a potential haulocast and the aftermath of nuclear war. This freaked the bah-jeezus outta me.

Also, John Carpenter's THE THING - I damn near chewed my hand off watching this...

And THE OMEN - "Damien" - This left chills up and down my spine throughout childhood.

I grew up in a small beach community in Australia. The ocean was our playground until.....

The only movie to this day that has truly frightened & scarred me for life which is ofcourse "JAWS".

Took weeks before I could even go surfing again, now thats horror.

P.S SIREEL the nuclear aftermath film is called "THE DAY AFTER" a truly fine example of a nuclear paranoia film, reflected the attitude of the mainstream at the time well.

Alien

The chest-popping scene freaked me out and I was afraid for weeks it was going to happen to me. The experience was not cool at all, but it sure was a damn good movie.

Every time the commercial for The Shining came on I ran from the TV. I think it was the combination of Jack running through the maze and the creepy music that was playing. I still think it is the scariest movie of all time.

I don't know if you count it as a film or a TV mini-series but Pennywise off of I.T. freaked me out majorly.
And now I am burdened with a fear of clowns for the rest of my life.

Thankfully my gremlin-phobia has gone.

Edward Scissor Hands. My aunt used to always have to babysit me as a kid and she would put it on everytime! I used to be so scared, now I find the movie funny... really funny

How the hell can Edward Scissorhands scare you? He's not scary... he's the total opposite!

Defintely Poltergeist. I remember that night well. I was like seven years old and I had a clown just like the one in the movie, sitting on a shelf right across from my bed. I'll never forget crying out for my mother in the middle of the night because I thought at any minute the clown would jump off the shelf and try and kill me. When my mother came in the room and I asked her to please take the clown she looked at me and said "hell no, I taken it!"
Needless to say it ended up staying in the hall closet for like two years.

Oh my God!!
The movie IT, scared the crap out of me when I was little. It was halloween and I had just gone through this haunted house with my dad, he says to me, "Want to be really scared?" so me being the tough sh*t that I am saw this movie. I don't think I slept for a week after I saw that.

Who can disagree with me there?
