Am I the only one who isn't particularly impressed with the CHICKEN RUN trailer?

I don't know, there seems to be a lot of talk about this movie, good word of mouth and all, but I haven't seen anything that interesting yet.

Claymation is kinda cool, but there wasn't ONE THING that I found particularly funny or exciting about the trailer....

Anyway, I'll still be checking it out OBVIOUSLY...!!

Sidney Sidney Sidney! Your becoming a cliche! Don't piss on a "kiddies" movie just because it's exactly that. Toy Story 2 was one of the best films of 1999.

Yeah I don't look to impress with Chicken Run either. I think it will flat on it's face and not do so well at the box office.

Ok, I have to say - Are you people nuts?

Sorry for the outburst. I realize that we are all intelligent people here, but, really, I can't believe that any of you are serious film buffs, not even Jo-Blo. Am I on the wrong site? Is this not a site for all the latest and greatest buzz about the movie biz?

Again, sorry for the ranting and raving. Let me just say that this is not a kiddie movie. Most kids won't understand half the jokes that Nick Park puts in his stuff. For those of you still stuck in the golden age of film, animation is not just for kids either.

Has anyone here ever seen a Hayao Miyazaki film? If not check out Princess Mononoke when it comes to video (soon). This is a great piece of art that is not only geared for adults, it would probably be rated R if it was live action.

Chicken Run is a family film. It is also a teen film, a 20-something film, a 40-something film, or an 80-something film. All of Nick Park's stuff is. Wallace and Gromit has some of the best sequences ever captured on film, animated or not. I haven't seen Chicken Run yet, but I have no doubt Park will produce the same. If you don't believe me, try reading some of the reviews from other critics around the web. JoBlo gave it a good review, but it seems that he still has no clue what kind of cinematic treasure he was watching.

For all those who still think claymation is just for kids, I have to admit, I did as well before I saw W&G. It only took 2 minutes to change my mind though.

Can't wait to see it! I think there is a bit of overhype for CR in internet (especially in AICN), but I'm sure it will be at least a good film, and very likely a great one. Wallace and Gromit rule!

HERE IT IS... I THOUGHT THAT CHICKEN RUN WOULD BLOW ASS BIG TIME. MY LITTLE SISTER WANTED TO GO TO THE SNEAK PREVIEW. SO I PROMISED HER I'D TAKE HER. WE WENT TO GO SEE IT, AND IT WAS REALLY GOOD. I THOUGHT IT WOULD SUCK!! DID I ALREADY SAY THAT? YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A CHANCE.

Saw Chicken Run Friday night and I have to admit, I was disappointed.

Just kidding... This is the best movie I've seen in a long time. Compared to others in the genre, its much better than Babe (which was nominated for Best Picture). I'd even have to rank it better than Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (both of which are much more sappy and kiddy than CR is).

The cinematography is excellent. Its amazing how well they transform a chicken farm to look like a consentration camp, while still maintaining believability. Camera angles are both interesting and intrinsic to the story.
The screenplay is witty (the puns and movies references alone will impress even the most skeptical). Dialog is always sharp and only breaks into cliche when intended. (you might recall the recycled "horse w/ long face" joke in the trailer.) The plot and situations are believable and reasonable. All the main characters (7 or 8 of them) have depth and emotion.

The story has almost everything - adventure, comedy, drama (ten minutes in, there's a scene that will almost make you cry), a little suspense, even a dance number for those musical fans out there. (Don't worry, its part of the story. Think the twist competition in Pulp Fiction, not lame musical numbers in your average Disney film.)

Movie references include Braveheart, Radiers of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Star Trek (some of the funniest moments), Shawshank Redemption, Mulan, Great Escape, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and probablly lots more that I didn't catch the first time.

Note: stick around for the credits for hilarious chicken and egg debate.
