I think Scary Movie would get more then 60 million. I mean is a spoof on ALL the teen slasher flims. A lot of people-my age, younger, or older-would most likely want to see it if they like all those slasher films.

I think sid is right I don't even like the teen slasher films and I'm looking forward to Scary Movie.

I agree Scary Movie could do better. The trailer is hilarious. It was about time someone made a spoof of teen slasher flicks!
MI2 will probably top 200 million, and Road Trip will definetly top 65 million.
Gone in 60 Seconds could reach 100 million with good word of mouth.
I'm not so optimistic about Me, Myself & Irene. I'm looking forward to it, but the trailers aren't very funny.
Chicken Run 100 million? No way! 60 million at most.
The Patriot could easily top 200.

here's what my crystal ball says:
Shaft ---> maybe 50, if they're lucky, this film looks horrible.
Me, Myself and Irene----> will gross about 60-70, just on Jim Carrey's name, this looks equally bad, I mean, if the trailer can't get you laughing, what are the odds the film will do better?
Scary Movie--->sleeper comedy of the summer, will gross 80-90 million, if not 100.
X-Men---->looks like some wild ass shit, if the reviews are positive, will be the biggest hit of the summer. 200+

I'm looking forward to Scary Movie also, but I don't think it make much more than 60-75 because in the past the Wayans brothers have had a hard time drawing in huge numbers at the box office.

What I think about Scary Movie is that it will either bomb, or become a huge hit. Spoof movies (except the Austin Powers movies) haven't been doing well lately. Is it gonna be like Austin Powers 2 ($200 million) or Wrongfully Accused ($10 million)? And let's not forget it's rated R! My final guess is about $70 million.
hey doctor drew, just because shaft looks terrible to you doesn't mean that it won't make big money. 130 was too high, i admit but samuel l. jackson as a badass is a killer.me myself and irene will make at least 100 million(if the truman show can, so can this)180 was again too high.but saying a wayans brothers movie can make 100 million that's just crazy talk.p.s.-i saw the trailer for x-men and i agree with your 200 million estimate
hey homersimpson! the only reason i put that chicken run would make 100 million is cuz everybody i know would rather see that than titan a.e. and everybody is sayin titan a.e. is gonna make big money.

Well, I have no particular figures in mind, but I think the couple of movies that will rank high that have not yet been released includes: (in no particular order)
Scary Movie
X-Men
The Patriot
and....
Coyote Ugly
I haven't heard mention of Coyote Ugly yet... any thoughts? Sex sells, right? /ubb/smile.gif

Let's see...
MI2 - at ~180M now, could top 200 by the end of its run, but not much more
Big Momma's House - 70M now, won't pass 90M
GI60S - 50M now and dying quick, I place final at 70M
Shaft - 25M now w/ mixed reviews, final around 70M
Titan AE - 9M now, final ~40M
Chicken Run - despite how good it is, probablly won't pass 50M
MM&I - Carrey will carry to 80M, but the film doesn't look that good
Patriot - America loves Mel, but Braveheart only did 75M, final 120M
Rocky & Bull - no predictions on this? I predict 60M, good summer flick, big names
Perfect Storm - not as big as everyone is predicting, 100-120M
Scary Movie - R rating and worn out material, 40M
X-men - only big time flick for 1st 2 weeks, perfect summer movie - 200M
What Lies Beneath - Ford's due for a hit, Zemekis helps a lot - 70M
Nutty II - original grossed 128M, so will this one
Space Cowboys - who wants to see old men in space? 30M
Hollow Man - trailer looks really cool, but Verhoeven's an idiot - only 100M
Bedazzled - Fraser & Hurley, Ramis directing - 60M
My pick for the surprise hit of the summer - Way of the Gun. I'm just being optimistic here, but the trailers look awesome and the premise is fairly original.
That's it

i don't think anyone can predict the box office. it's really tricky. you just have to see when the movie comes out
