they are, you know. Did someone actually mention to these guys that they need a decent story and special effects that are half good?

And, do they insist on putting that crappy dialogu in every film?

Hey ak, i do believe the creators forgot to put into their mind the fact that you actually need a good dialogue to make a good programme, altho by its success they seem to blow my mind how they became so loved by the (pardon my expression)"geeks".

It doesn't fulfill my needs as an audience viewer, and has seriously inadequate storylines.
Oh well i guess, its too sucessful to stop now /ubb/frown.gif

ok no big secret I like Star Trek, but good god, they have another one scheduled, I mean with the amount of star trek movies they are gunna need a guy with a hockey mask runnin around just for good measure, enough is enough with the Star Treks, half the "Trekkies" are (no offense to the trekkies) too blubbery butted to see the movie over their heaving guts (please take no offense to that I am half pissed right now) & as for the figure collectors, FIND SUMTHIN BETTER TO DO YA TWITS!!!!!!!!! /ubb/mad.gif

I HATE STAR TREK AND EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

Captains Log: I made 10 million on Priceline.com stock and than had someone kill my wife of 1year beacuse she was trying to divorce me. Mysteriously she drowned in our own pool, yet she was an avid swimmer in excellent shape. p.s. Priceline.com is now trading at $2.00 slightly off its high of $93.00

Captains Log: I am a Fat Fucking Drunk who makes even Billy Baldwin look like a good actor compared to me.

Captains Log: Did I mention I'm a Talentless Fat Fucking Drunk. Spock..ha..nd..me...m...my...brandy.

Fact: Star Trek is for geeks.

Fact: "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" was a decent flick.

Fact: I hate any science fiction film where they use excessive bad make-up to increase forehead size, or to put wierd designs into forehead.

Fact: I laughed my ass off watching all the geeks in "Trekkies".

Fact: The student body president of my old high school was a major trekkie. One day this dude on the wrestling team said to meet him after school to fight. The moron showed up wearing a Star Trek shirt complete with the little metal insignia. The wrestler began to kick his ass, until the trekkie stuck a protractor into his eye. The trekkie went to jail and the wrestler is now blind in his eye. That's it... end of story... just the facts...

You know, before I discovered Joblo.com, one of my favorite past-times was going to the bulletin board at scifi.com, saying how much Star Trek sucked, and then watching the responses come in. You know, those Trekkies get really defensive when it comes to that show. Some of the responses were pretty vicious. Well, anyways, I just thought that was kind of funny, and if you're ever bored, I suggest you try it.
As for me, I never really liked the show, though I did like some of the movies. Other than that, I don't see what the big deal is.

I have been holding myself back for weeks now, but now I just have to comment.

Fact: Star Trek isn't that far away..
Fact: Star Trek is a religion
Fact: Not ALL fans are geeks, we do not all go out and buy the Klingon dictionaries and paint our faces up!
Fact: Stories are awsome
fact: You like science? The you will definately like Star Trek. Scientific bits are incredible and theoratically true.

(EXAMPLE: we all now the transporter right? Beam me up Scotty? Yep, that one. Transporting theory is simple: moving an object or person from one place to another by taking them apart on a molecular bases, and putting them together again when you arrive. Unfortunately way back there was this Professor Heisenberg, a German guy who found out that moleculs cannot exist in time AND space. Only in space, or only in time. The dudes who thought up Star Trek just thought: 'Well, this is still fantasy, and I'm gonna make that damn transporter work. How about a Heisenberg-compensator?' Sounds good right?)

Fact: Interesting people on Star Trek. Klingons (all about 'Honour'), The Hirogen (all about 'The Hunt'), The Ferengi (all about 'The Trade'), species 8472 (just mean creatures), The Borg (collective mind) and so on.
Fact: It's funny
Fact: Good human interest factor
Fact: It's compelling and full of excitement

Yes. I'm a Trekkie. But a 'healthy' one. Once a month me and a friend of mine come together and watch the best episodes around. We have been doing this for six years now.. I love it. That's it.

LOL Mr Landers! You really crack me up sometimes.. NOOOO!! I swear on the head of my beloved cat, I do NOT own the Klingon dictionary! I do not paint my face! I'm healthy!!

I do however own some pretty good books about the subject;'The Art Of Star Trek', really good read about art direction. 'The Physics Of Star Trek', an episode summary of both TNG and Voyager and of course.. Ah forget it.

FACT: Star Trek is not for everyone.

You are all missing the major underlying theme (god, I sound like my literature professor) that makes Star Trek a good show. Its all about an ideal society and ideal way of life. Its not meant to be an Oscar winning production. If people followed some of the ideals set forth in the show instead of the violence, sex, foul language (etc, blah blah blah) of some of the rest of the shows out there today, the world would be a better place.
No don't go taking that as anything more than what it is. Sure the people who really get into it are real dorks. I can admit to have been to a convention and I did laugh my ass off at some of the people there. However, there was a lot of cool Star Wars stuff there as well as all the Star Trek crap. For the record, I am personally a big fan of Star Trek and I don't own a single piece of the crap that they sell. And I would be happy to call myself somewhat of a geek, especially since there are plenty of worse things to be labeled as. Besides anyone who has the time, energy, and desire to sit around and post messages on an internet message board has to have a little geek in them too.
Take that as you will. But as Mafia said Star Trek is not for everyone. Its not even for most people. But you have to respect the ideals it has set forth.

Thank you thank you Achilleos!
That's exactly what I meant by 'good human interest factor'. Peace around the world (or the galaxy??). Do you have any favorite episodes?

Mafia, Its been awhile since I have watched the show since I never got into Voyager but I always enjoyed the episodes of DS9 with the Dominion. That show got really good towards the end. It's a shame that they cancelled it.

Fact: Mafia is the only one putting up at least a good argument for Star Trek.

Fact: Looks like the majority of schmoes hate Star Trek

Fact: Don't worry, you're all allowed your own opinions...just not about Star Trek /ubb/smile.gif
