Chevy used to be funny, but he lost it a long time ago.
On the 1st season of Saturday Night Live, he was hysterical, he was funny in Caddyshack and the first Vacation movie, and he was really good in Fletch. (the first one only).
That's about it.

I'm a huge Chevy Chase fan. He's given us hilarious greats like Spies Like Us, National Lampoon, etc. He's a hero who deserves multiple Oscars.
JOKE
Let's cut off his head and shove it up his arse.

Check out 1974s GROOVE TUBE starring Chase and Belzer. It's a movie revolving around sketches - like BRAIN CANDY, KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE or the MONTY PYTHON movies.

I liked Chevy Chase in those "Vaction" movies. He is just too old to do anything anymore. /ubb/smile.gif

I like the scene in FUNNY FARM when he lets his dog run free.

I loved him in all of the early stuff, like The Vacations, Spies Like Us, both Caddyshacks and especially, Seems Like Old Times. I liked him in Nothing but Trouble, but I think he totally lost it in his other films from the 90's like, Cops n'Robbersons, Vacation 4 and that Jonathan Taylor Thomas movie. I didn't see Snow Day. Oh well, at least Bill Murray is still going strong...I think so anyway.

Well today in class we watched Christmas Vacation & I couldn't help but think about how good he used to be. His best movie IMO is Caddyshack

Chevy Chase in Caddyshack is da man. One of the funniest roles ever on the screen!
He's still pretty funny. Here in Australia we got a taste of his "commerical actiing" in an insurance company's add where he causes a lot of accidents, it was pretty good.

How can anyone hate Ty Webb and Clark W. Griswold? They are 2 of the coolest movies characters ever! I do think his recent stuff has sucked though. He, along with Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey and Robin Williams and Bill Murray and a few others need to go back to what they did best, laugh-out-loud comedies.

I've alwasy liked him, I've always found him funny. and I don't think he's lost his touch at all. He hasn't been in a decent movie in a while, the last thing I remember seeing him in was that piece of crap movie Snow Day, but he was the reason I saw that movie at all.
Bottom Line: Chevy Chase rules.....

Matt on X-E made a good point when he said Chevy Chase takes terrible film ideas and scripts and makes them more then watchable - he makes them semi-good. Like Christmas Vacation. It's miraculous how good that movie is. It should be one of the worst movies ever made.

I like some of Chevy's movies i.e. the National Lampoon Vacation movies, his work on Saturday Night Live, Fletch Kicks Ass, Spies Like Us and I love Dirty Work. But what I don't like about Chevy is his attitude, I saw him on Politically Incorect once and he was a complete asshole, he attacked Stephen Botchko and then threatened to leave because he didn't like the way the show was going. He couldn't take critiscism yet was ruthless in giving it out. After that show I lost a lot of respect for him.

Chevy is a guy who likes slapstick more then gross humor. He made good comedies in the 80's, but he really lost it after Cops And Robbersons (1994).

Because his later stuff was no good does not take away from the early FUNNY stuff. I am not gonna turn on the guy, he is funny.

It makes me happy to see there are people who like chevy chase, sure his later stuff(after memories of an invisblie man) wasnt good but his 80s stuff is great. i like his smartass humor because i'm weird.
as a person i hear he's quite the bitter asshole, but his movies are still good.
and what serious movie are you talking about? i dont remember chevy in any dramas.

On Comedy Central, they are roasting Chevy Chase. It is hilarious. One of the best lines is "The ethical question raised by Chevy's film is: is it okay to ask for a refund at a dollar theatre"? Oh and I can't forget "Dear Diary, Chevy quit the show to follow a lifelong dream to make shit movies and create one of the worst talkshows ever. We all knew he could do it"! :)
