Well this is my first Aronofsky film i see and i must say .... i'm impressed!!
Anyway,
What do u guys think of this movie???
What do u think the movie means???
What do u think are the key scenes in this movie???
Tell me everything you want to tell me about PI!!

I found it very very very interesting. The fact that its shot in black/white is also efective. It goes with the theory when Sol is talking about the board game representing our universe and there are white figures and black figures. Great. Also the board looks simple but is actually very complex like our universe and like the mathematical symbol Pi which is part of the simplest thing in life: a circle. This is truly a great film.

8.5/10 - if not more!!

LETS TALK PI!

Pi is a highly disturbing, but so very clever movie at the same time.
what the movie means? Well... it deals with the bible and mysteries of life.. that's always facinating. Atleast for me. I'm not a religious person or anything, I just think that the big mysteries in our world is very facinating, and the way the main character talks about Da Vinci and all the mathematic stuff makes is interesting.

My opinion it is a masterpiece.
MILD SPOILERS***************
Max Cohen's struggle for coherence in an world of chaos follows him through trying to break the code of the stock market. Finding the code through the series of numbers in connection to pi he is chased by a Jewish group and Wall Street members. After giving up the search he cannot answer the little girl's math question it shows Max smiling for the first time in the film showing his newfound content. A study into obsession and madness. Multiple viewings are required for more understanding.
My Grade A

I loved it. A totally awesome movie. I give it 8/10, but it might get higher after a second viewing...

The black and white thing is also cool because Max thinks of the world in black and white terms. I don't know if that was intended, but what the hey!?

It seems to makes a point about trying to solve the mysteries of The Universe as well.

the movie was filmed on a 60,000 (?yeah im pretty sure) budget. When a movie can go black and white, and it looks cool, why not? Especially if you want to save some money.

Oh yeah....forgot to add my problem with the movie: The title.
They really don't use the actual number pi in the movie, I guess it kind of is a symbol for the number they use, but I think they could have come up with something better.

I think the title hints at the fact that no one can figure out pi, and Max can't figure out his whole theory. They talk about his teacher studying Pi.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the numbers of Pi contain the secret of some biblical story, something about when the Christ is coming back or something...? And it was only Max who could solve the message in the numbers... /ubb/confused.gif I think I'm wrong... lol

The Jewish group that was after Max after he found the 216 digit number that they wanted to decode (earlier in the film when Lenny Meyer was decoding at the coffee shop) as the sayings of their god. Max's friend Sol had found a similar 216 digit number in his earlier efforts of working on Pi. Hope that clears some things up.

Yes, but that's like naming Star Wars "The adventures of Chewie"

What are you argueing? There are plenty of movies with titles that aren't obvious. Although I thought that this one was....

What do ya' think they should have called it, Starke? MAX AND THE MYSTERY OF THE 216 NUMBER... MAX MEETS THE HASSIDIC JEWS... MR. NUMBERS and HIS MAGNIFICENT COMPUTER.

<LAUGHS IN A GIDDY MANNER>

Hey, why don't they change the title of The Breakfast Club to Kids in Detention.

<LAUGHS AGAIN>

If you haven't heard it, Devo has a song called "Patterns". It's pretty funny.

Yeah... But you gotta admit that before you saw it, you thought it was a cool title.
