I hope you haven't gone out and seen it on LINDSEY's advice. This film will corrupt your soul. Thank god there are still some people who have been unsoiled by Jim Cameron's dirty money grabbing vision of horse shit. Good work OASIS you make me proud that I will never want to see PEARL HARBOR.

You know I don't mean to get off on a rant here but... it never makes to sense to me when people say I refuse to see a movie, in this case we're talking about Titanic. You might actually like the movie if you allow yourself too. It's happened to me before. Not that it's the greatest flick in the world. It was a crime for it to win best picture, but it was not a horrible movie by any means. Anyways, at least watch it so that you have some basis on which to intelligently bash the film. That makes much more sense than simply refusing to see it.

Titanic is not a bad movie but it is highly overrated. I've found that the more you watch it, the more ridicule you find in it. Here are moments that I find absolutely hilarious:
1. Lovejoy must have gotten paid a fortune to stick by Cal's side the whole way. I'd just say "fuck you" to the man and get on the lifeboat.
2. That Irish guy that gets shot. Poor bastard. Can you imagine him going to up to heaven with the others and God assuming "Oh, you must have drowned" and the guy replying "No, I got shot." Can you imagine how dumb that would look?
3. Jack asking Rose to take practice swings with the axe before removing his handcuffs. You're surrounded by freezing water, the ship is sinking and you're not in a hurry? Yeah, right.
4. Cal Hockley is HORRENDOUSLY over-acted.
5. Jack and Fabrizio are supposed to be good friends yet you never see them address each other throughout the movie until the ship is sinking. And then fabri gets crushed by a chimney. Ouch.
6. That old guy that would rather sit and drink brandy than leave. Moron.
7. Jack and Rose, even with the flimsy clothes they're wearing, show no signs of hypothermia while escaping from the ship.
8. If Rose hadn't gotten off the damn lifeboat at the last minute, they both would have lived. Jack should have really thanked her in the afterlife.
9. By throwing the pendant into the depths, the elder Rose has rendered a million-dollar expedition and a man's dreams useless. How selfish.
10. The captain is dumb enough to ass-kiss a snooty, wimpy engineer.
11. Even with all the chaos, that lady still wants to hold up the boat to get her things. Yet another moron.
12. James Cameron is a selfish, bloated egomaniac. And it seems he never plans to make another movie again, forever riding on the success of his big epic.
And finally, the one Titanic moment that truly cracked me up...
13. Kate Winslet's sour face when she didn't get the Oscar. TAKE THAT!!!!!!!!!
Any thoughts or things I missed?
This is not a great film by any means, infact, quite the opposite. A melodramatic film with over melodramatic acting, dull characters, a predictable story etc.
It was quite emotional in places, with some extraordinary effects work, but, the rest? Blah!

Actually George Costanza summed up the movie best when he said, "So basically the old woman is a liar, right?"

I honestly have never watched this movie, though I'll probably break down one day and fast-forward to the boob scene. Glad to know there are others out there!

I'm at odds on this one. I thoroughly believe that Titanic is garbage, but I can't in good concience say that without seeing it. Then again, why bother seeing it when I know it's just going to suck? Decisions, decisions.

I saw it and I can agree with neco82.I mean it wasn`t a bad movie, it was quite impressive as for the visual effects, but ALL THIS ADVERTISEMENT!Man, it was awful every single day listening on the radio My heart will go on.I agree with him for Kate Winslet`s sour face, too.At first when I saw it I like her dress and apearance very much at the ceremony (maybe because I`m a woman), but this face, she looked awful then. And James Cameron -ok, maybe he`s really a maniac, but he has made a great super production that`s why I respect him.
