Now, both were great films in my eyes. Both were serious contenders for Best Picture Nominees, with Traffic getting one. And both deal with drugs. Whats your take? Personally, Ill take Requiem. The film hit harder than traffic. Also i only saw the "edited" version they had at my Hollywood Video, since i didnt get the chance to see it in theatres, so could someone tell me what the difference between this edited version and the directors cut is?

I liked both a lot, requiem was quicker in pace, and traffic was more drawing sometimes. But I think I'm going to go with requiem because it makes you think about it a little more.
And I think the director's cut has the extras, I'm probably wrong.

Yeah, the director's cut has all the extras.
And yeah, I agree with tapr00ter. Requiem made you think more, it really did have a bigger impact on me than Traffic. But Traffic was an excellent movie too... Damn, it's a hard choice. Traffic was a beautiful movie, while Requiem was brutal. But Requiem will win this battle. Also thanks to Ellen Bursty.

Requiem definately had a bigger effect on me and what I will choose to do. The movie is a masterpiece. I can't wait to see Darrens next flick.
I think the deleted scenes are on the dvd version but I am not quite sure.

Personally i loved both Traffic and Requiem For A Dream but Requiem For A Dream was sooooo much better. I thought Requiem deserved the best picture oscar (among many other categories). I dont see what the academy has against dark/depressing/artistic/frankly everything no other film of 2000 was.
I have only seen the unrated version, i got a bootleg online back in March (thankfully)& i cheerish the dvd. The acting in Requiem For A Dream was better but Traffic had great acting in it too none the less. Aronofsky did a better job of directing and deserved the oscar but hey the academy would be too embarassed to give it to him.

Requiem definitely didn't get enough publicity. In fact, I still haven't seen it.

Requiem would of gotten more Oscar nods than Traffic if the Academy wasnt too embarrassed to vote for it. They didnt want people to think they liked a movie of its brillance and style. Requiem was my fav film of 2000. With the best acting/directing/cinematography/editing/music

Requiem for a dream is the winner no doubt on it. I think that traffic(even if it was a good movie) is a bit overrated but that's my opinion.
