This is a really dumb question, but in my opinion...
Hell Yeah!
It's Directed by John Woo, the story is about how the North American Indian dialect was used as code during the war, it's directed by John Woo, it stars Nicolas Cage, and Did I mention it was directed by John Woo?!?

What do you guys think?

I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVEN'T HEARD OF THAT BUT FROM YOUR BRIEF DESCRIPTION I WOULD SAY THE TWO WON'T REALLY BE COMPARABLE. I LIKED PEARL HARBOR EVEN THOUGH IT'S RECEIVED ALOT OF FLACK. MICHAEL BAY HAS HIS PROBLEMS BUT SO DOES JOHN WOO. HIS IS CHARACTERIZATION. MOVIES LIKE "THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS" AND "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2" WERE VISUALLY STIMULATING BUT LACKED ALOT OF HEART.

"Pearl Harbor" was directed by Michael Bay.

"Windtakers" was directed by John Woo.

Is there any question which one will be better? /ubb/smile.gif

To me Michael Bay is a B-class John Woo. Both are very visually oriented directors who have difficulties in narrative drive and over-sentimentality. However, Woo at his best is visually outstanding, while Bay is "only" good.

I think that Bay is a competent director and I like some of his flicks, but he hasn't so far had moments of brilliance, unlike Woo.

BTW, Replacement Killers was only produced by Woo.

I have to say that the trailers for Windtalkers look a bit dull. The action (and the film in general) looks too monotonous and unoriginal. There was no "wow" factor to the trailers. Haven't seen Pearl Harbour, I wait for the video.

I THINK BOTH DIRECTORS HAVE THEIR STRONG POINTS. MICHAEL BAY 'DOES' MANAGE TO MAKE A FILM ENTERTAINING AS DOES JOHN WOO. BUT I HAVENT SEEN A MOVIE BY EITHER DIRECTOR THAT I JUST LOVE. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WOO?

At this point, it's going to be hard not to be better than Pearl Harbor.

Woo might be able to create the best war sequences, but does that really equate to a good movie? In order for Woo to succeed, this movie must have realistic dialogue to balance that action. The fact that Woo does not speak fluent English could be a problem.

Furthermore, one of the problems for Bay in Pearl Harbor is what may become a problem for Woo in this film: war is not supposed to be glamorous. We arent supposed to feel in awe of the fiery explosions and the near misses (like in MI2, Face Off, and his Chinese films)...we are supposed to be swept away from the whole terror of the event. Its cool that Woo is expanding his portfolio, but well see how it goes. Im, of course, hoping for the best.

Woo's best work IMO is:

A Better Tomorrow

A Better Tomorrow 2 (Last twenty minutes)

The Killer

Bullet In The Head

Hard Boiled (If you like wall to wall violence, and a 45 minute shootout in a hospital)

I liked abit of Woo's earlier work aswell, but I forget which ones I saw /ubb/frown.gif

I think Christian Slater and Adam Beach are in it, that's all I can come up with.

YES!

Scary Movie 2 was even better than PEARL HARBOR!

I'd say it will. Michael Bay was drunk when he made Pearl Harbor. Hopefully Woo was completely sober when he made Windtalkers.
