If people continue to pay good money for stupid and bad film Hollywood will continue to make them. It is a shame that too few directors make films that actually make you think and aren't about bodily functions.

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't even bother wasting my money on the films that look like a complete waste of time. If I do for some reason have to watch them, then I'd download them offline, no way would I give them money for making crap.

I'm under the impression that most movie-goers aren't nearly as intelligent as we might give them credit for.

I think you'll find if you take the people on this board and the odd other boad on the net like this, and the odd people around the world who are intelligent movie goers and plonk us right down in the middle of 6 billion not so intellignet movie goers of thsi world and we'll find our little protest against utter crap movies make little difference to Hollywoods pockets.
It's stupid, these people should be taught what is good and what is not, my sister is a prime example, she goes to see some of the worst movies out there, but i don't ahve the heart to say "it's shite!", coz the main thing is she enjoys it, even if it is some Hollywood money grabber mindless film.
So we can see these not so intelligent movie goers and exactly dumb, only uneducated when it comes to movies and hence enjoy the dumb movies that insult OUR intelligence.
I think it's actually, to a degree, snobbish to talk of film like this. I absolutely agree that there are complete idiots who have a low oxygen-to-brain input, but film is ENTERTAINMENT.......there is intelligent entertainment and not-so intelligent entertainment......film would be very dull otherwise, and the special films, perhaps, wouldn't seem so special (arguably).
I, for one, like to see the odd intelligent film, they are a more complete cinematic sensation, but others find Tomb Raider to be a great cinematic sensation......so be it. If it supports the ever growing medium of film, that's good enough for me. (Even though it buggers me right up).
